If i wanted to try something new with my evh cab would a mix of v30 and g12h30 be a good i idea in a 2x12? i know guys like that combo in a 4x12.

I had an EVH 2x12 and tried H30/V30, all V30, and V30/Greenback.
My favorite cab is Bogner standard 4x12, all V30s rearloaded, but I also wanted something smaller and got the EVH 2x12 to avoid the high price of the smaller Bogner cabs. I do mainly high gain, fairly tight metal rhythm - 6 string in standard and D, occasional drop C. For that style, I found all V30s to be best. The combo of V30 with any of the others took the bite out and made it a bit mushy for me. If you're doing mainly hard/classic rock, I think the V30/H30 combo would be a better choice though. I liked all of the above better than all H30.
In the end, nothing I did (incl. installing the polyfill batting and upgrading the wiring) made the EVH sound even close to the Bogner to my ears...so I ended up selling the EVH and getting the Bogner 1x12 ported, which to me sounds bigger than the EVH 2x12 in any combo.
