So I tried this like 5 years ago, x pattern and didn't like it. My favorite cab is a 79 1960a cab with Marshall labeled 65s. I had a beat up 1960b cab, 200$ special just sitting in the garage. It had 2 v30s in it that I was gonna sell. I found 2 older T75s for sale for 50$/pair, so cheap I couldn't pass it up. Threw em in an x pattern..holy hell that is one killer cab! The tolex is 50% gone and someone painted the open areas black so it needs some TLC. Only one tear in the mesh so that's pretty intact...but man its a keeper! The V30s are from 95 and the 75s date to 87...so they're nicely broken in. Glad I tried it again!

The best sounding cab I've ever owned has a T75/V30 mix. It's a Avatar vintage cab. It even sounds better and more balanced than my Mesa Rectifier cab.

Anyone that wants to tame that upper mid spikeyness that a V30 cab can get, should try throwing in a couple g12t75's, you might be really surprised at the results.

I had a G12T75 and G12H30 x-pattern in a 4x12 a long time ago and that Cab sounded killer! The funny thing is, I don't care for either of those two speakers by themselves. They seemed to work when mixed together though!

Yeah ...just got done cranking my Jube through both 4x12s. Nice tight and powerful! That B cab is seriously beat to shit, thought about giving it away.....empty of course. Glad I didn't!

I really think the key is to find well worn v30s/T75s. I probably didn't like it the first time due to the harshness of the mids/highs of each speaker because they were newer. Unless its a Bogner cab, which by design has batting and uses better materials to tame the harshness. Either way I'm glad I tried it one more time!

I have only ever tried G12T75s once. I think it was a Marshall cab in a store. And I remember plugging in, playing like two chords, and being absolutely horrified. I'm pretty sure I ran screaming from the shop. And I never considered them again ever since. But... I might have to see what the fuss is all about with the X pattern. I figure if Bogner does it in the Uberkab, it must be at least ok sounding. Maybe.

I did have an older '80s Marshall cab with the 75s and they sounded nice..kinda wish I would have kept it. They really sounded more like fatter greenbacks. Those cabs can usually be had for cheap, like me finding these 2 75s for 50. The key is older and broken in with both V30s and T75s IMO....unless its a Bogner cab...maybe he has Celestion make them a bit different? I did play through a newer Bogner cab that sounded great with those speakers.

Fresh '75's are shit.

But once they're broken in and worn...they're pretty awesome.

The best cab I've ever heard is a 75 X v30 412...and I really like my 1960B's for my stereo wets.

In this mix, would you put the T75 at bottom of the 4X12 cab?

That's exactly what I did. I bought a Mills Afterburner with four V30's in it and it was way to spikey in the mids. I traded two V30's with a buddy for two of his 75's from an OLD Marshall cab, and the difference is huge. My cab (and his) both sound soooo much better. That is definitely an awesome speaker combo.

Do it man, do it. It's a killer combo. Totally different characteristics than each speaker on its own. Made a HUGE difference in my Mills cab.

I wonder how this would work in a 2x12? I have two 75s in my Bogner 212CB. May have to try the V30 in a mix in there.

there are certain absolutes in guitardom that go unchallenged

try a freshy in a 1x12 and you will levitate off the ground by the thrust of the projectile vomit discharging out of your nostrils before you can get your mouth open

now then,

i proudly owned an Uberkab and i might have been one of the first because i heard the prototype at a shootout in 2001 with Mr. B at the helm of the fabled uber half stack and raced to obtain one soon thereafter

it slayed with my eggie tol 100, moreso than the bogner v30 standard 4x12 i'd played the tol with prior, and utterly decimated the mesa v30 4x12 i also tried, and smoked the marshall 1960 loaded with the dreaded 75s

i ended up removing the 75s when my dark chocolaty eggie became a plexi voiced mojave peacemaker

my final boggie speaker config read : v30, greenback, gh30, scumback m65? or h75?

I doubt that. Marshall and Mesa order enough volume they're able to get Celestion to manufacture V30s with different magnets and slap their labels on. Bogners are loaded with the stock Celestions made in China.

As someone else mentioned, Bogner cabs DO have some dampening material on the back panel. It looks kinda like wall insulation for a house. That could be the difference you hear.
