If you did not know already...I just traded my Marshall Mode Four cab loaded with g12k-100 speakers for a Vader 4x12 loaded with the custom eminence speakers Vader uses.

First off...IMO these cabs are pretty evenly matched. I am happy with my trade. No cab is a real "winner" here...they each have there own vibe and sound going for them which are both great.

Now lets talk about the vader. First off, the cab is rated at 480 watts...compared to the MF cab which was 400 watts. The increased headroom is noticable. Less speaker break up in the Vader cabinet...some people do not like this. IMO I do not mind it. Controls the unbelievable amount of gain in the cobra and its extreme bottom end very well. I bit colder than the Mode Four cab and somewhat sterile in tone...does not really add any character to the sound of the amp...all you get is the amp's tone...hope that makes sense haha...anyways...the cab is great for live work and really works well with the Cobra.

The mode four cab was a bit warmer...and a bit woofier...a lot looser than the Vader...the cab projected a bit better...however, the vader was a lot more directional. I think the fact that the Mode Four was a angled version had a good bit to do with this. Anyways...both cabs are great for detuned hard rock and metal...cant go wrong with either...

I will say though...the vader cab looks a lot more metal IMO

god ive been a fan of vader's cabs since they first came out years ago i own one and i love it

I'm glad you're happy with the swap. You really have to worry about the cab damaging other things as you transport it, rather than the other way around.

I just snagged a Vader 2x12 and an Ear Candy Buzz Bomb 2x12 from a friend last night in trade. They both are great. The Vader is dead mint and probably not broken in at all. It sounds very tight and a bit brighter than I am accustomed to but killer overall. I can see why guys into death metal would love them. The speakers sound very close to what I am used to hearing in Raf's clips. I want to play on that cab a while and see what it sounds like once the speakers are broken in. I may put V30's in that cab and put the Emi's and the Green Machines (from the Buzz Bomb) in a 4x12. I still need to run each cab through my rig (I was putting new tubes in a friend's H&K so I used that amp only thus far with the cabs).

Thanks for the review. I'm planning to purchase two Vader 4x12s sometime this autumn, to replace Avatar 4x12s loaded with two Celestion Vintage 30s and two Celestion G12T75s. I play mostly high-gain downtuned heavy metal, and can be rather rough on equipment, so Vader seems like a solid cabinet choice for me. Avatar manufactures cabs with the speakers at an upwards angle, so that they are pointed towards the player/listener when on flat ground, but are Vader cabs made similarly? I'm usually on a stage or have the cabs stacked at home, so the speaker angle is unnecessary, and sometimes I feel it could slightly effect the sound.

i have a vader 2x12 for sale 3 months old and never left my home

Great review, thanks. I'm looking for a 2X12 and Vader may do the job!

Nice dude. I love my vader 2x12. I would say the descriptions in your review are spot on

I just played mine again tonight through my rig (2x12 Vader). It sounded awesome. Very tight with kind of a "spongy vibe". I dig the Legends quite a bit. That 2x12 does not fart at all. Great cab and they are reasonably priced and rugged looking. FWIW, my kids thought it was badass cuz they dig Star Wars and the Clone Wars so they thought the name was cool!

Dammit. Glad every one is digging vader cabs....I think its time for me to start looking out for a 212 or 412...

Definitely worth checking out, and I believe now that you have the option to get them in regular tolex, the price is even lower on those ones  great deal

Yeah, the price is a bit lower on the tolex versions. I get the feeling the speakers are very similar to the M12s, based on what the site says and what people have said, which really makes me want one of these. The M12s are my favorite speakers. I guess I need to decide if I want a 212 or a 412...idk...might just come down to whatever deal happens to pop up when I have the money for it!!

Also...boatshoes and laura...thanks for the Vader gas. Im trying to figure out what I have left to sell so that I can buy one...I have 2 cheapie guitars (one isnt even here yet) that I can sell, plus I have a spider 3 and fbv express pedal about to sell on ebay tonight. Those things should get me about enough for a Vader 412..... BAH!!!

And, if I like it enough, I totally see myself selling the buzzbomb to get a 212.

dude when did you get the jsx? that is sick.

Just picked it up from the post office yesterday. I needed something a bit more versatile than the 6505 for the band, and this was offered to me at a deal I couldnt refuse, especially considering that I have wanted one for about 4-5 years or so. Now I just need to get a Vader cab to go with it!!!

I have two Vader 4x12s and two 2x12s. Love them to death. I strongly recommend to Carnage Strain X pattern for those who find these cabs a bit sterile.
