Hmm. Must be yours because that's all I've run in my amps over the past few yrs, with the occasional quad of Mullard or Winged C that I'll throw in for a change of pace.
I have multiple quads and I've never heard anything resembling what you describe.

I have 6 sets here. All from different places. One set from Mesa, another from KCA, another from here and there. They all do it. Just the RFTs too. I've got JJs, and Ruby, and NOS Tesla, and EH, and so on. Only the RFTs do it. It's so weird.
