Van halen 1 Sound Echo or Delay

When your listening to Van halen 1 do you hear echo or delay.Im not talking about the plate reverb you hear.I know Ed used a echo plex and a ec80 echo unit.What im saying is would you use a delay pedal or a echo type pedal.Ive always used a analog delay pedal,would a echo type pedal be a better chose.

I think you're kind of splitting hairs here...you can put most types of delay in a loop at 250-300 ms, 1 repeat, mix at 25-30%, it's going to be real close right there. Analog delays and tape echos typically sound pretty similar in terms of how dark they are and how they decay.

And if that's not enough, then get the Strymon El Capistan and run it in front of a FET boost in front of your Super Lead...or get a real Echo Plex.

Im using a MXR Carbon Copy Analog delay and for reverb im using a Hardwire RV-7 pedal(Lexicon reverbs).

What amp? Are you using it in front or in a loop? What don't you like about the CC?
