You telling me with all that crap load of gear you have(and your hands :D ) you can't get THAT tone?

No matter how much guys want you to believe it's all in the hands... The gear matters, and no-- not all Marshalls sound like that. ;)
This is true. It's not all in the hands by any means. Both the technique/touch in the hands and the gear play a part. Zach, also agree that the Peters doesn't nail the brown sound like your clip, just posted it 'cause I thought it was pretty cool for an amp that most people get metal tones with.

Not what I was saying and I certainly didn't want to start ANOTHER tone is in the hands/gear disaster   . I added the "and your hands :D " because I know it's a combination of gear AND ability(recording ability too). If you can play those VH bits spot on like Eddie did 30 years ago or that dude in the clip and others out there(Zachman, I'm sure you have the skills) do, It just seems funny that with all that gear (I know not all Marshalls sound the same, but I bet some of those are close enough) you should be able to nail it too. I don't know the specifics of how that dude recorded those clips, like how much post eq and crap but it sounds like VH "album tones". Live and in person, I'm sure it's sounds much different. It was a great VH type tone. There are others out there that "nail it" using different gear and equally skilled hands.

No worries...

I just like the idea of having that amp set to pull up 'that' sound, while having the others set-- to pull up different sounds, and having them all available and ready w/ the press of a button.

uh oh! hand v amp.....

its a balance no need to get this one started again. its been hashed diced quarted southered and smothered, rekindled, burned, bartered and exchanged, touched on, eluded too and talked about.

Tone is in the pick. It's the direct link between the hands and the guitar.

No way, Tone is in my pants. Here, pull my finger and I'll prove it.

its in the strings. they have to be compression wound so a .43 becomes a .42. At least thats what I read on the back of a DR string pack.. great strings by the way.

So, the only question is. ..... How soon can you get it delivered? It sounds fantastic, you want it - done deal, right? :D Oh, and clips after you dial it in

    Nice one. Those natural overdriven tones come mainly from the NOS burritos.

Mostly from USED relic'd and aged burritos, would be closer to actual eye witness accounts, as a general consensus. Locked windows in the car are a must.

I am supposed to confirm a few things tonight. I'd guess a week.

Clips, ahhh yes.... I hope to be doing some recording this year and should have a bunch of preview clips coming soon.

That sounded fantastic! One of my favorite VH tones I've heard.

I certainly see why you like that amp, def nails the tone   , helps if you can play like that, so that leaves me out!

Yeah look at the plethora of baby boomers chasing Clapton's 45 year old Cream/Bluesbreakers tone.

And...

Hendrix
SRV
Trower
Robben Ford
Holdsworth
Page
Knopfler
Gibbons
Angus
Malcolm
Gilmour
Landau
Lukather
Lynch
Metallica
Santana
The Edge
Andy Summers
Eric Johnson
etc... etc...
Could you please not post list like this, I look at it and go, yeah I can do those, I just need 6 diff amps, 12 pedals, 1 rack and 5-7 various guitars with diff pickups, no problem!

lol... Some stuff certainly does cover a lot of ground, but depending on how close-- "Close" is-- to "Close enough" multiple options can be a good thing.

Sounds good. I was never a big fan of Van Halen's tone but hey...if it works for you!

Yeah his tone for the most part has always been a little thin for me.

I'm really digging Jerry Cantrell's tone these days.
