I'd like to hear something experimental from this camp. The production sounds great, playing spot on, but c'mon… what's with the damn blues/hard rock revival shtuff going on with all these guys?!

I hear you guys, but not gonna happen here. Adrian said himself on his Facebook page it's gonna be very much in the classic bluesy hard rock vein.
The guy spent more than a decade away from music focusing on painting.
Just glad to see him playing again even if it's not gonna change the world.
Honestly I'm not expecting much...I would like to see him play with some fire though as he did on his first 3 solo albums.

Manic Eden...good record but Adrian's solo's just missed the mark. Maybe he's spent some time in the delta on his hiatus and soaked up some real vibes because he tried going more bluesy with his lead playing on Manic Eden and it missed the mark.

Still...looking forward to it.

There's a Peavey Vandenberg guitar (day glo pink) at Bill's Music in Peabody Ma... with his signature on it.

Here's mine. I believe the official color name was "Rock-It Pink"

The one at Bill's looks just like that, but with Adrian's signature on the front in black marker, on the upper horn.
I think it's like 500 bucks.

Happened to see this on craigslist in LA today. Fernandes AV signature (claims to be previously owned by Adrian). Who remembers ads with Adrian holding this one?

Certainly looks like it...Adrians had the center PU removed in later photos...plus that case. Always loved those old Fernandes headstocks...especially reversed. Adrian moved on to ESP after this, then the Peaveys.

Sorry. Based on that clip I wouldn't expect too much.

Try and write something a little original. At least try........ :aww:
I agree with this, from what I hear here it's been done to death. No interesting timings, tones, melodies, nothing! Just sounds like Soundgarden with less gain.

And the problem is ???????
Sorry, not trying to be a negative Nancy… every artist is entitled to expressing themselves any which way they wish, and hopefully they'll be appreciated by others. I will not pretend Vandy doesn't have mad skills yo (no sarcasm intended). I really dig the earlier stuff, I just have a hard time getting past some of the 30 y/o regurgitated riffs. I had a first or second run, low serial black Vandenberg that I absolutely loved (save for the less than stable bridge). Great playing/developed axe. I was sorry to see the line go south. That neck was fantastic. He did a great job helping to develop that model, which should've seen better market play.

Been a Vandenberg fan since the beginning, thanks for the info OP! I'm definitely looking forward to this now!!

BTW, I don't get why people talk about the "Slip Era" like it was the end of AV because of Vai or some hand injury??

Adrian did another album with Coverdale/Whitesnake in 1997 called Restless Heart that has some of his tastiest playing ever IMHO. It's never been released in the US & I think it kicks ass! Dig Adrian playing a Strat & Gretch!

What was his issue with his hand ? I seem to remember vaguely hearing about it, but never did hear directly waht happened to him.

I remember reading an interview with David Coverdale right after the album came out. He claimed Adrian injured his hand in a freak piano playing accident. Not surprisingly, Coverdale did not elaborate on this.

Wow, haven't seen a pic of that guitar in years. Thanks for posting this!

I love Vandenberg but the sample track posted I didn't care for. The first couple of Vandenerg solo albums are excellent.

His solo on "Here I go again" was better than Vai's in my opinion.

I saw him on WS with Vivian Campbell and he owned Vivian the night I saw them. I was a bit surprised how good Adrian was live and didnt think he's smoke Viv like he did...he owned him all night. I don't know if Viv was having a bad night or not as I saw Viv twice with Dio and he was awesome both times.

'Ultramega OK' and 'Louder Than Love' are must-have releases for any respectable record collection... AV is a obviously a fellow 'first two' Soundgarden fan.

Guitar sound is almost completly clean.

Needs to tap that front end with an 808 or something

John Sykes with Vandenberg- Whitesnake 1987 Largo Md.
They opened for Motley Crue. I made it 3 songs into the Crue and we walked out because it was to loud and distorted, couldn't understand vocals or guitar. Saw Tommy do his drum thing in the cage upside down. Honestly Tommy Aldridge Smoked him :D

Not impressed with the new clip. Sounds kinda generic. If I heard it on the radio I would think it was a B side from the 90s  Damn he looks OLD.

There's a song up on Soundcloud...if ya check the website:

That is just incredibly dull. I don't mind the classic rock style revival but no-ones doing it with any balls. Our heroes have gone Gear Page on us with their tones. Needs more growl and less jangle.
