Yeah, thinking I might go in for a Merman. Curious what he does with a klon type circuit

I'm thinking about a merman also. The Dragon is the one I am most familiar with...it's a great pedal. The Standout went fast....there wasn't many left when I decided to get one.

As I’ve said, I love the merman. lol he extra knobs really make I better than a real deal Klon. For example, when using it with an amp that already has drive, the original Klon pedal can be overly compressed. The Merman has the compression and bass knob which brings back some bounce and feel to the guitar. I really want to try a new Merman, but in not sure if it could be that much better. I honestly use the Merman more than the Standout or Dragon.

I only have one Klon type right now. I usually use more from the Tube Screamer family. I should pick one up.

"Merman - prototype - germanium/silicon clipping options and more output from the warm & bottom signal paths"

I received my new Standout pedal a couple days ago and it is awesome as expected.

I did have an issue with it at first. The sound was cutting out and sounded really off. I contacted Peter and also made a video demonstrating the issue.

He concluded the charge pump was bringing pedal up to voltage levels my power supply was having issues with. I use a Pedal Power 2+. He tested the units with a different power supply that agreed with the pedal.

He said I could turn down the voltage trim pot inside. I did and this worked. Pedal sounds great now. So, if you are having issues with your new version Standout you can try that.

Below is the video I made showing the issue.

Yeah, Peter sent an email to everyone who bought one of these pedals, and it looks like the 100ma jack on the voodoo power supplies is not supplying enough current to run the pedal. Turning down the trim pot is one solution, or you could use one of the higher current power connections.
My Standout has shipped, but is not here yet.
Can't wait to give it a spin.
I also run a voodoo labs power supply, so well see how it goes. I have one of the larger Voodoo power units, so I will have options for powering my Standout.

Guess Il build myself a merman to check out.

I sold mine already.  I did extensive comparing against my original version. ;)

I actually like my new on better. Maybe it has to do with internal settings, idk. LPF seems much more subtle on older one.

Me too.. got mine a few days ago and was up late jamming with it last few nights. The new one sounds way better on my gear than the old one.

This is re-assuring!
Dave had me worried there for a bit.
Never tried one before, so looking forward to seeing what it does.

New one does have the impedance trim pot which is a cool addition. Make sure to turn it all of the way up. Mine was set 1/2 way stock.

Impedance trim?! Thats cool actually. ??

Here is a pic

I've had mine since Monday. I'm liking it. I like it better than the Dragon for what I do. I haven't opened it up yet.

I will say the new Merman is killer. It has so much drive...easily brings my stock JMP into metal territory. With the silicon and germanium clipping it really can make the notes sing.

I need to contact Peter. I want one of the new Merman and it looks like he might be working on a new EQ pedal.

I just want to know who is willing to step up to the plate and design a Furman PQ3 in a pedal! lots of talk over the years, nobody up to the challenge! :P
