Sounds good! I don't remember much about the VH140, is that the amp that was popular with 90's death metal bands?

I did the same thing last week! Yours is definitely tighter

Yea!!!!  That does sound dead on to the Black Album tone.

I laugh because I am guessing they did not use a VH-140c and probably used 10k in amplification.

yeah thats the one. what did you use??? sounds good!

I've always wanted to try one of those. I used:

Gibson Explorer with EMG 81-->Furman PQ6-->Mesa Triple Rec-->crappy DOD 31 band EQ in the loop-->Splawn 4x12/V30's

On the furman, I boosted 12db at about 1.6k, and 3db at 2k, with a narrow Q. I used almost every slider on the DOD EQ, but the main things were: Boosting a ton at 5k, boosting a ton at 1k, boosting a ton at 240. Cutting a ton at 750 and at 375. If you cut the mids on your amp but boost at 1k and a little at 2k, you can create a scooped sound that doesn't get totally lost in everything. Mine didn't cut to well though.

Ha, sounds great man! I've always enjoyed your clips, you're a great player and make that amp rip. Definitely a big improvement in recording quality though, nice work.
