Both amps recorded through the same mic/speaker/cab/computer setup. Pardon the playing though, little sloppy on the SLO one. :)

So I've had the VH4 for a bit now and still impressed with the 2nd channel (especially at volume when I had an opportunity to play it up loud in a mix). :)

These are short clips at TV volume, I wanted to compare/contrast them. The Soldano seemed a bit more present.

Sounds great. I used channel 2 more often than channel 3 when I had one. Channel three is awesome, but channel two has the same basic voicing with much less compression IMHO.

Nice SLO clip, too. I've had both of those amps too. I was really impressed with the SLO's crunch channel and the VH4's second channel. People seem to over look them, but for high gain rock they are absolutely killer. The SLO' crunch channel is really beefy with a great amount of gain on tap. From what I remember, the SLO's crunch channel had a bit more bark than the VH4's second channel, which was tighter and more polished sounding. I did tend to use the SLO's OD channel only though, because it was so magical. But the crunch channel definitely is more than an afterthought. The SLO is no one-trick-pony.

With an OD pedal and working the guitar's volume knob, you can use either the SLO crunch or the VH4 second channel to cover everything from clean to breakup to overdrive to high gain to metal.

I absolutely love the crunch channel on my SLO with a boost.

Digging the sounds here. Much darker tone out of the Diezel. Both so good

The SLO sounded a bit more compressed, and a touch more gain perhaps?
Both clips sounded great.

What are the power tubes in the SLO

SLO sounds like just more presence/brightness...would turning up on the VH4 presence end up closer? I would think so...

Thanks for the comments! :)

On the SLO's crunch mode, the preamp normal knob was on 9 so I was bringing in almost all the gain it had in it.

The VH4's channel 2 is almost like a 2nd clean channel (imo), it stays pretty clean until you ride the gain up high. I had the gain knob at 3:00 to get some drive going.

As much of a boost junkie I am, I didn't want to use any pedals for these clips. Just straight in medium gain type tones. :)

The SLO has the stock factory Sovtek tubes, the VH4 also has the stock KT77's.

When you state medium gain. Are you saying that as a statement to channel 2? or do have the gain on that channel down? I vote for the clip of the 4. My opinion might be on the bias side since I own a 4.

wow that sounded great what were you're slo settings for that.
