VH4 issue

Hello.

My VH4 has a major volume issue. On all channels, the volume is very low even with the channel vol/gain at 12.00 and the master at 12.00 and above (literally, barely audible).

Tube issue or potentially something more serious? I'm guessing it's a power tube problem.

Are the tube fault lits on or off?

How loud is it when you plug your guitar into the serial return and crank the master full?
 
Tube fault lights are off. The volume is very low when plugged into the serial return - a bit lower than bedroom level.

Much less loud than if you would do the same with Herbert?

Then it is in the power amp. So most probably either the PI tube or the power tubes.
 
Yeah it is quieter than the Herbert. Not sure about replacing the power tubes myself and rebiasing. Could be dodgy. Perhaps better to get a UK Diezel tech to do it or send back to Bad Steben?

Let a local tech perform a full retube and get the tubes from Peter! Don't let your tech decide on the tubes.
