Hey,

Just wondering what your thoughts were about the 6550 with the VH4 and what the tonal qualities are. I've read good things about them with the Einstein so I was curious as I love the EL34 that I have used, I mainly play metal

Does the VH4 now come with the 6550 as standard?

Thanks

Yes it is standard with 6550's. It sounds crisp, articulate, tight, and has immense headroom and distortion. Wonderful tube for the Diezel voicing IMO.

can it deliver a good blues pop tube like a 6L6 can Duolos?

It certainly can. The tube is very nice and versatile. It does most everything very well IMO.

I think i'll give the 6550 a go. Would you recommend any particular pre-amp valve to compliment it?

Thanks

This sounds interesting. Any clips for comparison? I think I wanna try this.

I'm always up for trying a new tube - never tried anything in the 6550 / KT-88 family. Is the Ruby Winged "C" 6550 the same as the SED 6550?

I'm unsure aswell about this, I cannot wait to get my VH4 fully re-valved and sounding how it should!!!
