Hey Pete? What kind of cab? You owe it to yourself to get a VHT cab to see what that amp REALLY sounds like. I'm dying for some awesome profiles of a CL and UL through a VHT cabinet with the master cranked above 2 o'clock profiles for the kemper!!!

One profile was with a first year mesa armored oversize recto cab, other was with a '72 stock marshall slant. I had a VHT cab, but I wasn't impressed enough to keep it - I preferred the other cabs I owned that I compared it to. Just my opinion. I could have pulled a profile that sounded more scooped and 'boomy' on the low end, but in a mix I don't like fighting with the bass player for lows and hardly ever play on my own - everything is either in a band or recording context. Again, just my opinion.

No offense and do appreciate the contribution but it makes that amp look bad.

Mine sounds much better with my shit Peavey cab as well as the Deliverance cab

Not sure if it's the tubes or settings but no justice here.

No offense either, but what does it need? More mid scoopage? how does yours sound better? I want to sound better too, share with me.

+100 on this.... That is not at ALL what the Fryette 100CL sounds like... Doesn't even come close.

Sounds like VHT to me Pete...nice job!

I'm gonna have to get me one of these boogers...maybe 2013 will be the year I re-define my guitar/amp collection. ;)

Right now with the Peavey cab I have Master Volume 100% to get tubes cooking, shift off, edge and boost both on, Bass 2:00, Mid 2:00, treble 11:00, presence and depth both about 50%.

But this amp usually LOVES more mids and bass.

When I used the D412 I would have mids at 3:00 sometimes more if it needed to cut through more. It just comes down to the cab and guitar for me when I change settings.

The most important thing on that amp to my ears were the 12ax7 tubes.
Change em up if you haven't already. I put some funky Groove Tube in V1 and it started getting me where wanted. Its got the sheild on now so I cant tell you the exact tube. I think it was ax7R or something, and t

And I like a boost in front ^^^

(Phone keyboard is screwy sorry)

Ok, you too then... tell me what a 100CL is supposed to sound like.

I've owned three 50/CLs, a UL, a CLX, and now this 100CL, and have owned the matching VHT 4x12. I'm just not getting it unless you guys are expecting me to put the middle EQ sliders as far down as they go, put an overdrive pedal in front and also max the gain. If so, then yeah, I think I see what the problem is.

I'd like to hear this, where can I experience your sound clips?

You are telling me that what is coming out of my speakers is what the amp sounds like? Man....
As far as the EQ is concerned... Guitar is a mid range instrument. You have to have mids and with a Fryette you need a bit of them to really allow the amp to respond the way it should. Gain around 1 oclock and no real need for a boost and if you do use one then the gain and tone knobs are barely turned up at all. Your recording sounds nothing like how the amp sounds in person... or atleast how it should sound with proper eq...

No opinion on what a VHT should sound like, but that tone is not pleasing.
Pretty bad.
Sorry. I seem to be hearing more average to bad tones from these Kemper clips.

I was looking at that 100 Watt VHT the few days it was there, as well. :D

Edit: Very nice, though I'd probably want to boost it, too. 8)

Just read some other posts. There's currently a 50 Watt CL that seems to have been available at the GC a few times and is still at the Tulsa one, but the 100 Watt one with the road case was only there a few days. I wish I could've tried it out but was in a hurry.

I don't mind constructive criticism. That means you say "hey, that sucks" or whatever, and then you could offer advice as to what you didn't like.

It's all apples and oranges to me. I think I'll take the EQ on the VHT, put the lowest and highest sliders to the moon, drop the others to the basement and have GuitarCenterGodTone. :)
