VHT 2/50/2 power amp blowing fuses

My VHT amp will go about two shows and then then the main fuse will blow. I guess I need to have it looked at by a professional but I was wondering if there is something I can check myself before taking it in. I got it used and it worked great for months but just started going through fuses last week.

Any suggestions?
 
Do you hear anything unusual before it blows? Would think it is either loose pin connection at one of the tubes, a tube going bad, or worse, a pwr transformer going out. If you disconnect the secondary connections, and pwr it up, and it still blows, the transformer is going bad. Would be suprised if that was it,from the length of time between blows. usually you can hear a difference if a tube is going bad. Look for arcing on the tube sockets as a sighn of a loose pin connection. Check for any loose connections inside chassis. Could also be a shorted filter cap or rectifier, but I would think it would blow much faster if that was the case. Good luck! Jim
