Not really heavy, but I have this. Amp is on "less" mode, and I'm using a Rc Booster. You can tell when i turn it on and off. What do you want to hear? Maybe I can fire up my cheap camera this weekend and upload something new.

 
I have both a d60 and a UL....a boosted d60 can sound just as aggressive as the ul, but to me it has more "body" and feels much more alive than the ul's precise and cutting gain sounds

Not near as much as a 5150 or Uberschall. I think the 5150 has like 6 friggin gain stages and the Uber is at least 5, and more likely 6 as well iirc. It should have more than an 800, probably close to the same as an XTC or SLO, and prolly a tad less than a Recto. Having said all that, I think a Sig X is the only VHT/Fryette that I haven't played, but my comparison would be pretty spot on for an Ultra Lead. I am just assuming that the Sig X pre-amp gain wise would be in the general ballpark as the UL. FWIW the UL has 4 gain stages, and JMP/JCM 800 single channel Marshalls have 3 gain stages. I think the XTC has 4, and the SLO has at least 4 as does the Recto.............. (though they both may have 5. The Recto is supposed to have a very similar pre -amp gain stage thing going on as an SLO).

At any rate, I'm probably wrong about everything lol, but I honestly think I'm giving you fairly accurate info. ;)

To me, 4 gain stages is about as much pre amp gain you can get and still have a really quiet amp. I do like having access to a 5th gain stage when I'm feeling crazy, and wanting an over the top saturated tone, but with it comes less clarity up front, more white noise, and unwanted feedback.
 
I did the st/50, then a classic, then a sig-x, then the ultra lead. The sig-x was the only one I didn't absolutely love. Bought four UL's right away for me and a bro as backups. Was my main amp for several years. Still have 2 of them, one in tweed I got off this forum.

Just didn't gel with the six-x.
 
How many gain stages is not the same as how much gain ..... you could have a amp with 3 gain stages that has a lot more gain than a amp with 8 gain stages.

You really need to play on these amps side by side with your cabinet & your guitars to really find what one works best for you. I had a CLX, CL, UL, D60, D120 & Sig-X all in the same room with my gear for several days & I much prefered the D120 & Sig-X ... but like all of the Fryette amps - only a matter of taste.

If you ask me the Pittbull's are bit more modern voiced - the Deliverance & Sig-X also can be e very modern sounding when set up that way- but have a bit more of a vintage flavor & feel is bit different.

If you really want to know about the differences ask more direct questions - Writing out all the differences of this many amps would take weeks ...:)

I know it doesn't always equate that gain stages = saturation, but it's deffinately part of the equation. I was being simplistic in my post. IMO gain stages do tend to add noise however, if everything is equal.
 
I have a brand new 50/CL sitting in my room waiting to be unboxed tonight. It is the newest tweaked version.......the only one in the world at this time I believe.

As far as I know it is just the EQ. They will no longer offer the graphic EQ and have adjusted the EQ response to compensate. I'm not expecting that big of a difference from my old 100/CL (without EQ).
 
Just plugged her in and it killed just like it did 9 years ago when I had to sell my 100/CL for financial/taxman reasons. It took me an hour or so because I forgot how finicky the amp is. You have to dime the channel volumes and make sure you have all the effects loop options set correctly for your specific pedal/pedals. I know everyone's ears are different, but for mine, this amp destroys the EVH 50w, and Splawn Super Comp that I was using as a backup to my Morris.

This takes me back to the HC days. I always said my top 3 high gain (80's metal) amps without requiring a boost are the JVM 205/210 amber channel, Engl Blackmore lead channel, and VHT/Fryette green channel........in no specific order.

Can't comment on the tweaks because it's been 8-9 years since I had the 100/CL.
