VHT Gas, need some advice from VHT/Fryette peeps

Here is how I set up these amps. It does not matter what type of sound I am going after.

The Deliverance and two high gain channels on the Sig X are similar. All references are O'Clock.... Not 1-10.

1)Set all tone controls at noon.
Turn Gain II off.
2)Adjust Gain I for the tonal balance you want. (This control has a very strong effect on the voice)
3)Adjust Gain II for the amount of gain and saturtion.
4)Adjust Presence and Depth before the other tone controls.
5)Fine tune the voice with the Treble, Midrange, Bass.
6)Fine tune everything from there.

The band I am in right now does a lot of hard rock / metal type stuff.... I am using the Sig X usually.

Always adjust the Presence and Depth first to adjust for different guitars and cabs.

Kind of a Fender Blackface / Hiwatt clean ...

Bloom or Brite

Volume - 10:00

I basicly turn up the Volume till I get distortion and back it off a bit to keep it clean. I then can turn on the Boost to get some overdrive. The guitar volume is very usefull to get different amounts of distortion.
Often I back off the Treble and Presence a bit depending on the cab and guitar.

1)From here I change both at the same time to *Live* and *Wood* for a different midrange voice.

2)Adjusting Gain I and the Midrange (8-11 or higher) on these setting or Lead Metal setting .... Ton of control right here.

3)The Midrange is set low... But the Fryette amps are midrange heavy.... Take my word for it - it's going to cut in the mix with the band. The other guy in my band is using a Marshall half stack very midrange heavy.

These amps are very reactive to different guitars and cabs.... But these setting seem to work for me with most of them.

Also can this amp sound good at bedroom levels? Just curious cause I can't crank it all the time but the heads I have now (Pink Taco, 5153, Rivera K-tre) do pretty well at low volumes too.

And one more thing, I noticed there was no price on the Sig X at the local shop either, the owner is super cool and usually gives awesome deals but was wondering what kind of price I should be expecting about. And the Deliverance 60 is brand new according to its tags though it looks like it has been sitting forever, priced at $1499, does that seem a bit high to you guys?

The Sig X does pretty good at low volumes. The Deliverance jumps in volume at one point on the Master. It can be difficult to control at lower volumes. I'm in a condo and have used both amps here.

Thanks! If I pick one up I need to make sure I pick it up after mothers day. Last year I brought home a classic 1977 Guild B301 bass and my wife just about killed me... yup I forgot to get her flowers lol.

Thanks, as a fellow condo guy it's good to know these things. Hey one more thing... I've been looking for Pitbulls and every so often I see "MasterBuilt" in front with a higher cost... is it worth the extra money?

VHT stuff is awesome. Glad to see they get the love they deserve.

I own an Ultralead and want either a sig x or deliverance 120 next. The UL is a metal monster of an amp. All 3 channels sound amazing and its very tweak able. That's the most time consuming amp ive owned so far as far as tweaking goes. Ive tried it through v30 cabs and the VHT Fatbottom with p50s and it sounds great through both. It does get very loud but its a very good amp for bedroom volumes, I'm always pretty low when I play at home and it always sounds great without moving air. If you go with a pitbull, make sure you get the EQ. That EQ is so powerful and is where all of the tone shaping is at on that amp. You cant go wrong with any of the pitbulls. They all sound great.

I absolutely loved my d60, and it was my main amp for a couple years. I only sold it as I had picked up another marshall and had 3 heads that basically did the same job, and couldn't keep them all at the time.
Now I'm down to my main marshall only and want to get another. Probably get a 100cl first as I've never owned one, but probably end back at another d60. It seriously sounded like my favorite marshall, just a little smoother and more gain and low end.

I have a 1992 Pitbull Classic. This amp, I will never part with. It is bad ass!
One thing you need to be aware of that some ppl have trouble with, they have a dry, less saturated tone, but they are super articulate and clear.
It doesn't take long to get used to, before you know it you'll be in love.

I can't say that I like the cabs that much, I had a deliverance 4x12, I couldn't jive with it.

I think only the CLX is master built - and I think that means it was built by Steve Fryette.

I have only seen the CLX as master built. Last I heard four people work at Fryette including Steve. So the chances of Steve building it are very strong.

A lot of these smaller companies that build amps only have a few employees.

Yeah I did. I spent almost two hours in the amp room today and I got to say I fricken love the Deliverance 60 That amp has some serious balls. As mentioned it was super easy to just dial in and crank up.. sounded great. I'm trying to figure out if not having an effects loop is going to be a big deal down the road.

As for the Sig X there is a lot to play with there. Fun amp and very versatile but I think I need a bit more heaviness for it to be a keeper for me. I probably shouldn't have played the Deliverance first as mentioned cause it just didn't seem as heavy in comparison.

But as for Gas, not sure of you guys are familiar with a Japanese store called Hard Off (Affordable Electronics, Instruments, and Recycled “Junk”) but their US equivalent just opened today here in Honolulu called Eco Town and they have a huge wall of Guitars and Basses mostly all made in Japan (Fender Japan, Schecter, Edwards, FGN, Bachus and some other trippy Japanese guitar names). I picked up Fender crafted in Japan telecaster today that is pretty damn nice and fun to play (always wanted a Tele for shits and giggles). So gas has been relieved to some degree and I think I'm going to try my best to get a hold of an Ultra Lead.

Thanks to all for the shared VHT/Fryette knowledge! I learned a lot and am now on a quest for an ultra-lead!
