definitely, CL has 2 channels and CLX 3.
but besides that, what's the difference or pros/cons?

- tonal difference between Red/Green of CL and Rhythm/Lead of CLX
- any differences in the power sections ?
- what else should i consider ?

i am not a super high gain player.
BE-100 is just right in terms of the range of gain.
let's say... Jeff Beck, AC/DC, VH, Joe Satch... (not aiming the exact tone, but just saying that kind of music )

i am considering VHT label old ones because they are cheap.

I really would recommend checking out a Marshall or Marshall derivitive. That is what those tones were made with. Fryette would be one of the last amp brands I'd recommend to you.

Here are a couple of clips I made about 10 years ago with my VHT CLX. It was a great amp!!

I have a 1992 Pittbull Classic (el34), and the lower gain green channel has some very nice vintage tones. Sound about like a D60 as others have mentioned.

I have a 1992 Classic (CLX) for sale/trade. Let me know.

I had a Pit Bull Classic and it was three channels, clean, medium gain and high gain, plus the loop was switchable in/out, great amp, just didn't really do the heavy thrash thing like a UL would. Very tight amp though, not forgiving at all, but it would work for what you're asking about.

I've had a Pittbull Classic (CLX precursor, and I did have the graphic EQ as it was the combo) and a 2011 UL, as well as the Deliverance 60 and 120. I currently have a Sig:X, and have had it since 2013.

For what you want, I believe the Sig X is the best option for you. The voicing switches give a lot of flexibility, and the clean channel behaves like a NMV big British head. Put it in 40W mode and it's tube rectified just like a JTM45. In 100W mode it sounds like somewhere between a Hiwatt DR103 and a Marshall Super Lead, and 40W mode makes it feel more saggy like a JTM45. Great channel for classic rock overdrive that can get into classic metal with a boost pedal.

It can do liquid leads on the red channel, and the green channel can do any amount of gain you want, from a good clean all the way to modern metal.

I have never played a CL50 or CL100, so I really can't comment on them.

The Pittbull Classic I had was a GREAT amp. Sold it because I didn't want any heavy combos anymore, but it was my main gigging amp for a few years. Great for hard rock and metal, but it wasn't as touch sensitive as the Deliverance or Sig:X. The UL was a little bit more touch sensitive than the Classic, but not by much. The Classic was one of the best lead amps I've had, though. Maybe the best.
