great video james! thanks for posting this.... but now i'm really wanting a dirty shirley

Great video. Can the other mods, say C45 or BE get these types of tones too?

Yes they can but a bit different. This amp has 6l6's and a tube rectifier

6L6's and a tube rectifier......A Mesa - BUT NOT!

Sounds good. Wish you had told your really good customers :D this was coming out before I ordered the Reeves Jimmy 50!

There's all kind of Page coming out of the Shirley...

Hi James,
Many thanks for posting the video and audio clips. The DS sounds truly superb. All the motivation I need to get some extra overtime shifts done and boost the funds !

Cheers , John

First off I did not know I was making this till about 2 weeks before the amp show. I did not really know what it was going to be until the week before and it was not done till the day before the show. So sorry just came together quickly. James thanks again. To be clear I think the mids should be up on this amp and the bass at around 5 or below. This is how it was intended to be run for the sound I was going for.

I did the mid on 10 and bass on around 8 for some of the clip. I tried lowering the bass but I personally liked it up around 7 or 8. Either way it really did sound good and the mid up gave the amp another sound. For me as a producer there's never 'one way' to set an amp, I'm always trying to find either the missing piece sonically or build a sound scape that's in my head from scratch when making a record. The amp and knobs are like colors. As cool as the amp sounds with the mid up the thinner tone of the mid at around 6 would be very useful, think Tom Petty/Beatles/The Police, more jangly less focus. It's definitely a cool amp, I some serious tone freaks in my studio today and had them listen to the tracks, they gave the amp the thumbs up.

Thanks for the clips James! Amp sounds great- very versatile- classic rock to AIC.

I'd love to hear it with a Paul with a Detroiter in the bridge.

LOL, So would I! Snarl all the way- HottDamn!!!

That amp seriously kicks ass!! I loved it when I checked it out at Tone Merchants, and it sounds even better recorded. Cool thing about that amp is how fluid the leads are, even without tons of gain. My favorite Friedman amp!

Sounds amazing!! Everything Dave does is killer! Is this sorta like a hot rodded fender bassman type of amp?
