You are the reason for my pedal gas lately!

I ended up with a completely different pedal setup and am really happy as well with my AC15 HW...your rig sounds great!

I'll try to make a you tube vid as well when I'm done.

I just made a few quick video clips of my rig. Check 'em out! They're a little dark and very beefy! I've been going for a darker tone lately and it shows... lol

Great clips Chris!

I like the 2nd one (Purple Plexi 800) the best, followed by the last one (Plank Cranker + SubDecay EchoBox) 2nd :)

Chris

I am assuming all of them sound better in person. I also assume you are going for a different kind of tone than I like.

That said, I liked the first two the best and my fave was the Lovepedal. The Krank pedal sounded... just... like a teenager's (okay my teenage) distortion pedal through a practice amp setup before I could afford decent gear.

I jammed with a guy who was using a Krank distortion pedal and it sounded like pooh to me too. It was so bad, I let him use my 5150 and told him to take his head and pedal home. Jammin' with that guy didn't last long. I guess what I am trying to say is, I don't think I like the sound of Krank pedals.

But, what does this tin-eared metal head know..?

I think you've nailed the classic 70-80s rock formula. Most guys back in the day didn't get all of the cool gain sounds from elaborate mods or super loud marshalls. There were an awful lot of guys using fenders with pedals for distortions and boosts back in the day. I was listening to Hendrix doing foxy lady on the way home from work and realized he could have never gotten the songs tone with the muff type distortion pedal (I forget what he actually used).

I liked all the clips and could be perfectly happy playing covers with that rig.

Wow! I don't expect everyone to like these clips of course, but man, you really dislike them that much? I think they sound pretty darn good! That Krank pedal kicks butt in person!

As I said, I am sure all your clips sound better in person. You might not like my tone...

Oh, that and you are gigging and I am trying to put something together, so what you have going trumps what I have or like...

bro hate to be the spoiler here but your rock tones with the peacemaker killed that.

now if you did a demo of the lovepedal and switched to the fender clean tone to show how versatile the rig is i might buy that as a great argument for your current setup, but i vastly prefer your mojave clips!

your old maxon 808/marshall clip was also a killer :D (will NEVER let that one go...)

Hi Chris,

interesting direction you are moving to.
I've never thought you would, sounds so Unmarshall, you know :D
I like the PC the best - of course ;)

Olaf

I think the Krank pedal sounds good for that tone. The 1st clip is pretty good too. The 2nd clip sounds small compared to the others.....different volume maybe?

I actually didn't mind the Krank at all, thought it sounded pretty good.

Hey Chris, HBE has a new pedal coming out called the "Doomsday Device" It's Gary Holts signature pedal. You might give that one a shot when they come out and see what you think of it for heavier tones too.

Will it be for Exodus tones though a clean amp...???

Great tones Chris!! I think all three pedals sound really good for what you are using them for. Nice little set up man!

as far as I know, I haven't got alot of info on it yet, they're finalizing the paint for it now, Gary is VERY happy about it, and Brent told me it sounds killer, so we'll see. I'm definetely getting one.

Have you tried the FMJ?

It sounded fairly nice from the clip on the page.

+1

I've been wondering about that pedal for a while now.

Actually I haven't.....need to though, I need to add that one to the list Joel has for pedals for me

+1 I really like the mojave clips better as well, both sounded killer. The twin clips were a bit too dark for my tastes. I think the twin with pedals sounds good, but not as good as the Mojave or your old DSL clips (though its been a while since I have heard them). The Mojave clips just sounded more open and alive, hard to explain.

That Krank pedal sounds like a viable option for getting that nu-metal type sound. The PC was my favorite.

And this HBE FMJ sounds like a pedal I need to check out....

All I know is that the Lovepedal into the Twin is very happening tone   It's either good tone or it ain't regardless of the components right? You have what I consider to be very good tone with that pedal.

Oh, I agree with ya. I'm just saying that this rig isn't what I expected. When I think of distortion pedals, I think of thin and buzzy distortion. This is FAR from it.
That's been my thought as well. The Krank didn't do it for me. I guess it's geared for something that will be hard to get out of a Twin. But the Love pedal sounded GREAT! Very natural.
