[VIDEO] Pete Thorn on recording guitars with Loadboxes

I'm really curious what kind of solidstate poweramp he used for the capture.
Great video, great tones!

Great video and excellent explantion Pete.
Thanks a ton!! Love the mic reflector/holder and the iso cab space.

As for the question about the solidstate poweramp, Pete has done other vids with his Matrix GT1000, so that would be my guess. Although if you notice he has a quite few pieces of AWESOME gear laying around his studio, so I'm sure the Matrix isn't the only possibility.

Keep up the good work Pete, you are truly appreciated for what you do!!

I just sent him your question, he lives LA so he must be sleeping right now. ;)
thanks :) Pete Thorn is really awesome, and so are his videos!

Too bad we can't use the solidstate poweramp of the Torpedo Reload to do IRs
That would've been really great.

The IRs I did with my tube poweramp were just too scooped :/ The Matrix is still 800€ and just too much if you only want it for making IRs.

That is what usually happens, guitar tube power amps are far from having a flat spectrum. If you have settings such as Deep/Depth/Contour or any kind of power amp things (that usually have an effect on the negative feedback) you can try to work with that to make it better. Send a white noise in your speaker to figure out what is the more "flat".

I could say that even a Behringer A500 is a good and inexpensive choice.
