Vintage Feeling Shredder?

A majority of my playing years has been done on thin neck, floating trem, double-locking guitars (Ibanez); however, most of the past decade I've played and grown extremely fond of big, fat neck, fixed bridge guitars (LP's & PRS's). The shredder kid in me longs for a sleek, race car of a guitar - Kramer, Charvel, Ibanez, Jackson, etc..., however, I simply no longer have any interest in floating bridge/double-locking guitars.

Any guitar suggestions?

Not sure what you're asking. Do you want a guitar with a thin neck and a hard tail? Or a guitar with a bigger neck and a hardtail? You should be able to shred on anything with good fretwork, which any number of talented guys can give to any guitar for $100.

Not sure what you're asking. Do you want a guitar with a thin neck and a hard tail? Or a guitar with a bigger neck and a hardtail? You should be able to shred on anything with good fretwork, which any number of talented guys can give to any guitar for $100.

A "super-strat" style guitar with a 50's LP neck and fixed bridge is likely an accurate description.

I'm a Charvel/Jackson guy through and through, but love a fat LP neck too. Just picked up a new Schecter USA Hollywood Classic, the neck is definitely thicker like an LP but a super-stratish guitar otherwise.

For the price, I think it's a no-brainer. There's no lack of testimony regarding Curt getting the feel right...I'd easily have the confidence to move forward if I was in the market for that type of guitar.

90's ESP Mirage and Vintage Plus models are pretty rad. Anderson and Suhr models without locking trems and with the next bigger neck profile as an option are also great.

A Norllin LP like Zakk, sand the maple neck and tung oil it, have big frets put in, and flatten the radius out. Instant shredder with thick LP tone.

After putting this off, I came upon Schecter's Sun Valley Super Shredder and took a chance. Super happy I did. Almost all bases covered. I've added Tone Vise Keyless Locks to it, have the Tone Vice Pitch Shifter to install and will be making a custom bridge stabilizer/lock due to the fact there is a differentiation in the cavity surface near the tremolo block (inside back) which has a step down (into the guitar) where one would mount the trem lock. My PRS Tremonti is the same way, so I'll likely make a couple. Otherwise, this guitar rocks!

Roll your own, without question. When the pandemic started I had this idea and ended up buying a Warmoth “Fatback” tele neck and a “59’ Jazzmaster neck to see which I liked better, knowing I wanted a clubby neck for the dragon tele I was going to paint. The 59 carve was not substantial enough so I ordered another Fatback. Wanted a 2 std humbucker Jazzmaster without the stupid pick guard mounted jack. Decided against a Floyd but this Gotoh—along with locking tuners and a Tusq nut—stays in tune perfectly.

Just want to say my 76 LPC has a super thin stock nitro maple neck. It’s getting SS jumbo frets and the stock 12” radius. It’s a mix of shred and big LP sound. The thinner neck takes away some of the massive low end and makes it more upper mid sounding.
