My other guitar player has a vintage modern and i would love to make it sound better. Anyone have plans or schematics they can send me to improve the tone and put it into high gain territory?

there's this thing called the dumpster mod, it involves you throwing the amp in a dumpster while your other guitar isn't around .... hahah i always thought the Vintage Modern sounded like dog ass...

I hate it but the dude doesn't have the funds to get something else right now and i would like to have my amp back. Its something that I would like to do as a project and just wanted to know any of you had plans or what not.

No reason why you can't get a good tone out of the VM. It's actually a very good amp and fairly easy to dial in. The only thing I felt it lacked was that air push, and thump in the chest. The tone is there, but that Marshall thump is missing. I bet the Fortin mod could fix that.

Or, on the cheap, get him to run a Suhr Riot pedal through the clean. Problem solved! That pedal is incredible on clean channels. It's a rare pedal that sounds and feels like amp distortion.

Unlike some others here I love the VM. I boost it with a Barber Direct Drive. I had mine slightly modded and all the detail can be found at the link above.

Thanks.. I tried going through the maze that is that forum and couldn't find anything other than questions. I will put a post up there and see what comes back.

If there was a place here that sells a riot, I would try it out. Thanks everyone.

It has to have the Friedman/Cameron/Fortin mods or it's invalid

It's not mine so it's validity is not a concern.
