Hey guys,

I'm refinishing a Viper and am debating on putting new hardware on it and if I do, what hardware. I think chrome would look great with the blue but white would be an interesting look too. So would black... see my problem?

Also, anybody know whether the bridge pieces are "standard" sizes or even better, have links to where I can buy new a bridge and tuners?

This is the first color coat. I laid it on a little thick so I'm going to do a light sand on it and then shoot a couple very light coats before clear.

that is going to look fantastic! Oh and chrome all the way!!!

I would go with chrome, zebra pickups (cream/black), with cream rings.

Chrome. Chrome pickups too. Maybe even brushed chrome stuff.

Right on guys, keep 'em coming! I'm going with PX-100 pickups like what I put in this Viper.

Now that I think about it, my pickup choice probably means I should go chrome and black for the pickup rings. I was also contemplating making a pickguard for it but still debating because I love the blue. I also bought some metallic black diamond paint with the thought of airbrushing the edges for a slight burst, but the general consensus so far is leave it all blue.

Hardware wise you need to check (esp. with jap. or kor. guitars) if the studs and such are metric or this other funny measurement, Bob.

Tone Pros is always nice (and has both AFAIK, metric and such). If you look for more sophisticated stuff I'd suggest to have a look at Faber bridges. They also (if you should be after that) have the reliced parts.

Tuners: I prefer Grovers on my Lesters . . .

Any of the Gotoh stuff should drop right on there. All Parts or WD should have stuff that fits.

I was thinking Dodge Viper ;)

Looks kind of like the Gibson pelhem blue.....nice color.

I'd go dual cream or white pu's and guard

Cool finish! I would go with white hardware on that color. If you go chrome, go with brushed.

So you're looking to have a straight-up back up? If not, why not consider some tonal/performance versatility across a similar platform? Just thinkin' out loud here.

Love that color blue. Those PX pickups will look amazing in it. Congrats Bob!

Coincidentally, it's looking like I have a line on a set of brushed chrome tuners, bridge/tailpiece and knobs for a great price.

Is that an ESP or LTD?

Point taken, but I love the P90 tone in this guitar and have super strats, LP, Tele for a little variation, plus I couldn't resist the price and grabbed a beater white Viper 400 that I'll likely go the humbucker route in since I'm not a fan of the EMGs. I was going to refinish the white one but it's so beaten (even has holes from where someone installed a Bigsby), yellowed and "used" that I'm pretty sure it's staying as-is.

Love the color too Bob. Brushed nickel sounds good to me. But, I think straight black (including the rings) for your pup choice (or you can go with zebra humbuckers  )

If you change the tuners, get locking ones. Sperzel isn't the only manufacturer of them, I believe Gotoh and Grover also have versions. All I know is, locking tuners make changing strings so much quicker and easier, and help you stay in tune. What's not to like?
