Viv sounding great here...

Sounds great. Lots of people like to bag on Engl's for not cutting...definitely not the case here and his tone is killer.
 
Sounds like he might have some mid pumping EQ going here, kind of a cocked wah thing going on so not entirely sure that is the ENGL alone. He's getting similar cut and tone he did back in the Dio days..
 
that' s the original LP he recorded with on Holy Diver,,,recent refret.

They sound real good. I wish they'd come through Dallas. I saw Viv on Holy Diver and Last in Line tours and they were great...really mids RJD tho, one of my favorite vocalists.

So much better seeing him rip it up like this instead of playing the second banana role in Def Leppard.
He's seriously wasting his talent in that band.

I really enjoyed this, thanks for posting it! Loved Viv's playing back in the day and it's great to hear him sound like vintage Viv instead of the backup guitarist in Def Lep. Saw Viv with Dio on the Sacred Heart tour before he was replaced by Craig Goldy. Also saw him play in Whitesnake and thought his live playing with them was great as well.
 
I like how the singer get a Dio vibe when he screams but when he sings he sounds like a different guy.

Its like, here is a hat tip to you RJD because you are a badmofo, but here is what I offer too.

Very cool.

Vivian has been one of my fav's since the beginning.

I still think that Riverdogs debut has some of his best solos. So freaking great.
