Just got one of those CTS 300k vintage back volume pots with a 250k tone with a .047 cap wired as in a 50's style Humbucker/Single setup, although I think the treble retains as it should, the taper of the pot is ridiculously bad.
From 10-7 is there most things happen with the volume reducing properly, from 6-0 it's just pretty much nothing, as if the volume was rolled off completely. Not subtle at all, totally unusable!

What would this need to be improved? non 50's wiring and a treble bleed mod or maybe a new pot???

Short, high quality cables to the first buffer works well, imho...

Sounds to me like a bad volumepot. Have you actually measured the taper with a DMM and no wires connected ? You may have damaged the pot by putting too much heat into it while soldering....

fixed, changed to a new pot and added a treble bleed mod (.001uf and a 150k ohm resistor)

thanks guys!
