Vox AC15H1TV Hertitage Series Hand Wired Combo...

I just read up to see if the AC15cc comes with the Blue speaker...it does but you don't get the EF86 channel, which is the best thing about this amp. That channel sounds amazing, it gets great breakup, smoother and nicer than the other channel.

I noticed that the new one is pretty different. The AC15CC is very stripped down. It's JUST the top boost channel, with reverb and tremolo being the only things that aren't pretty much totally necessary. I think it sounds better than the AC30CC, though, which kind of goes overboard with all the extra little things. It's just never sounded as clear to me when it's cranked up. The one with the alnico blue is $900, so $500 more for one with more usable modes and higher build quality seems perfectly reasonable to me.

How very odd. Those people said some very specific things that are totally backwards of what I'd expect or know. For example, the one guy said that comparing it to the AC30CC was an unfair comparison, because it has more power and is clearer and more open. Another person, though referring to the new AC15, which I haven't heard, said that it's too middy and not as open as the AC30CC in comparison.

My experience with the CCs is the total opposite, and I've confirmed it to myself many times. The 30 does not appear to be any more powerful at all, and no matter how I've set them up, it always sounds like it has a bit of midrange cloudiness in comparison to the AC15CC.

Obviously, I'd just have to try it for myself, anyways, but that's all pretty weird to me.

I thought that was an interesting thread on the subject, I hope there are more response soon to it...
I had the same reaction with the AC15H1TV as this person...

"Mayhawk, Like you I have a Victoria 20112 (5E3 Deluxe) that RULES along with a great 70's Vibrolux Reverb SF. I am used to that Fender sound.
I got the AC15H1TVL with the Mahogany cabinet. I doubt the cab has much to do with but my amp sounds very open and sweet right off the bat. I'm a little surprised actually. I can get some sounds off the EF86 cahnnel that makes the amp sound like it's covered in tweed. The TB channel sounds the way I always hoped my AC30CC2X would sound. If you can't wait for the speaker to break-in then try some different preamp tubes to start out with. I have owened different Vox's in the past and this one is the best."

Funny how we all hear things differently....I guess there's no reason why someone couldn't prefer the CC version more.

They're ALL comparing to the AC30CC, though, which, as weird as it still seems to me, I am damn certain sounds different than the AC15CC.

The Vox tone I love is all about full mids (not too honky though) maybe the person who said the new 15 has too much mids doesn't appreciate that and prefers subtler mids. It is a really loud 15 watts for sure. Keeps up with a band fine...actually the headroom is perfect. I like it when the cleans are on the verge of breakup, with the volume this amp puts out it's just right for getting that with a band....and not being too loud.

Good job smacking that bitch on the gear page, what a tard. Typical snobbery I see over there unfortunately....

Did that thread get pulled?
That guy was unbelievably ignorant.

Must have, I read it last night and can't find it today.

I notice to they refer to boutique amps like they are common place. There is some amp named a Voxer, I thought it was one of the new voxes, nope, some boutique amp. I looked like a idiot even though the OP didn't really explain what the amp was he was talking about in the thread

It really seems that if you slam a very high price tag on a hand wired amp, and call it a new name that no ones's heard about, a lot of guys there will just eat them up.

As long as it's made in the US or the UK

Great idea, I think I will call our amp model the Sykes 50, how does that sound business partner? :D :D :D :D

Any chance of hearing any clips of the AC15H1TV?

As nice as that amp can sound, I guaran-frickin-tee you a huge part of why you like it is because of the speaker.

I've always wondered about that, but no one makes a cab with them that I've ever seen, so I can't try it.

Good point, the speaker does sound great....but the amp is voiced great for that classic Vox sound...instant Brian may when it overdrives. My old AC30 didn't sound near this good.

I'm gonna try running the Polaris into it. ;)

Yes!
We''ll get James Peters to make a single channel Polaris for $2000, put the Sykes logo on it, and sell it for $5000...we'll be rich! :D

I'll do a clip soon...showing the clean and dirty tones.

Good point,

Damn right it is; I was the one making it. :)

Yes, you will. And then you will return the Vox, and buy an Alnico Blue speaker for your combo.

The end.

Hurry up. :gethim:

You'll be waiting a while. Adam has already convinced himself that the Alnico Blue can't possibly make that much difference in the sound, and says he'll be keeping the Vox irrespective of what happens when he tries the peetorz through that speaker.

Oh come on! Even if the Peters does sound great with the Blue....I've been a Vox fanboy forever...I want this one, it does sound better than the AC30 I used to own.

I will try it this week and make clips of both...been really busy lately. ;)
