Hey guys,
I've always loved Vox amps and I'm looking into buying an AC30. As most people say, the weight is a bummer. I play jangly rock stuff like Tom Petty, the Byrds, the Church, etc. I know about the Vox AC30CC1 with the 1x12 and that seems like the best in between option from the AC15 (which is a little quiet for me...too distorted also) & the AC30CC2, although I don't see them too often.

So, I was thinking maybe it'd be better to get the Vox AC30 head with a cab. I know it's two pieces of gear instead of one, but I think it'll be easier to transport. Now my question is, if I got the head would it really be as simple as plugging it into a 1x12 cab? How many watts should just the one speaker be, as I understand the AC300CC2 is 2 15 watt speakers, right? Does anyone recommend a way to make this work? Or is getting a 2x12 the best way to go (cab or combo). I will be gigging, but I figure they mic amps so often a 1x12 might be totally fine.

Any alternative options anyone has in mind are much appreciated!
Thanks so much!

Get a Bogner Metropolis 30 watt. Nails AC30, but also has extended preamp voicing options. Get the head version, if you can find one. I've been a Vox guy for years. I sold both AC30's after purchasing the Metropolis.
