Good 1x12 Cab?

For example, I have a closed back 2x12 and the same exact speakers and everything sound very different in my other 2x12 and I dislike it but love the other....with the same EXACT set of speakers.

I mean if it's just for testing speakers..... The 112 EVH or Peavey cabs are an excellent value and can't go wrong with either.

Also not bad here..... You can also order them unloaded if you already have speakers. Different 112 sizes too or you can ask for a specific dimension or color as well as they are made to order.

I'm talking about timbre here, not low-end response or how loose/tight it is or anything like that affected by the enclosure.
Late to the party, but I've noticed timber differences based on the enclosure. Things like smaller cabs sounding pokier and more broken up vs a larger cab, and changes from close-back to ported affecting clarity, smoothness, and overall frequency balance (not just the low-end either). I can not give a well-reasoned explanation for this stuff yet, it's just what I've perceived.

I will say, having owned multiple 112, 212, and 412 cabs over the years, a 412 simply sounds better to me. The same speaker across cabs will sound different. Highs will be accentuated differently and have a different amount of fizz, lows will rumble VERY differently, and the midrange can become boxy. My favorite cabs have been the Avatar signature 212 and Mesa OS 412.

If you can find a nice used Marshall 1912 1x12 closed back cab with the Celestion G12B-150 speaker, they're nice to use with a 50 or 100 watt amp head or as an extension 1x12 cab for a combo amp. I have 2 1990's Marshall 1912 1x12 cabs, one in black vinyl and one in blue vinyl.

thiele/ports are cool in the room but make the speakers sound like dick in front of a mic if that’s important to you
