Anyone have any experience with these? I'm looking for a solid amp that covers a decent amount of stuff - mainly for church, but we do play some heavier tunes occasionally...I've always liked a good Voxy tone, but I had a AC15C1 for a little while and hated it. It was just way too farty in the bass, and you couldn't get any type of higher gain tones out of it (no, not death metal gain...but just pushing the preamp tubes a little harder with my OCD type of gain)

How do these compare with the other series?
And I'm slightly concerned with the lack of an effects loop...how could this issue be solved?

Thanks
Jordan

I know a guy who claims he can play ANY gig with a strat, a BOSS SD-1, and a VOX AC-30. I've heard him play. He's right.

Really?
That's awesome...I'm gonna try to find one and play it.
Seems like a pretty cool amp.

Anyone else?

The AC30HW are very nice. I got to play and check out a few protos when I was working at KorgUSA. They spent a lot of time hunting down the tranny sets in that one.

I also serviced a lot of the reissue Vox stuff that was done out of the Marshall factory. I agree with you on the AC15 reissue.....not the same top end spank that the AC30's had.
Cheers,
Mike

Only played a Vox twice in my life.

1st was a Korg era Vox AC30 reissue combo w/Greenbacks. I thought it was fantastic. When turned up, enough gain for metal (for me) !!!

2nd time a really old one with original Celestion Alnico Blues. Such character and mojo :D Seriously, it was awesome.

The Vox AC30HW's were having some quality issues, but I think they might have gotten those resolved. I did like the switchable master volume on the AC15HW and AC30HW, great feature. I am GASing for an AC15HW to add to my '66 AC50. Love Vox amps.

As for an effects loop, if you need one, check out the AC30C or AC30CC series.

Yea, the effects loop is my only concern; however, when I had my AC15C1, it didn't have an effects loop and my delays sounded great running through the front end. So maybe its not really necessary

Only problem for me with that amp is that I love to play it pretty much dimed, you get that cool sag working and the thing is right below exploding.....very cool.

I run my delays before my Vox AC50 and they sound great, but I get my gain from dirt pedals generally. I think you will be fine without an effects loop.

If you get one let us know. :)

I'm actually about to check out a Koch Twintone this afternoon.
I might be able to get a really good price on it, so if I can get it for a steal (and I like it...) I'm gonna buy that.
