Man Wade has the magic touch. Just spent my second night with the 2nd Degree in my Les Paul, love it! His stuff is great. Afwayu in the Charvel...Done! 2nd Degree in the Les Paul...Done. Have to set up one more now, Wade suggested the Detroiter, anyone have any reviews of that one?

Jerry from Luxxtone has a Detroiter in one of his guitar and it sounds and feels great. Very thick and chewy rock-n-roll, fun to play. Great pickup.

Does motorcity pu's make a pu similar to the Duncan distortion or the bkp miracle man? I got a les Paul and have wanted to switch out the bridge for a little while now. At first I was considering the dumcun jb sh-4 but after hearing a clip on here by narcissistic (pretty sure that's his toggle) comparing the jb and the distortion, I was digging the distortion a bit more. After hearing that the Bkp miracle man was similar to the distortion I figured I'd start looking into them, I'm willing to spread the extra cheese knowing it's a consistently well made pu vs the machine wound mass produced version. I'm just getting into these boutique pu's so i'm not to savy on motor city's. Can anybody chime in here?

Congrats! I have the 2nd Degree in the bridge of my Bloomfield LP and I just love it. Everyone bitches about the MCP's having too much bass. This has not been my experience at all.....

Same here, I heard the same thing. The 2nd degree is so pure with that extra little something, not overly bassy at all. I used to play the Afwayu and then over to the Les Paul with the JB and I hated it. Now I don't know which to pick up, they both kick ass.

Yeah I agree with droptrd, definately his own thing. Instead of comparing Wade's stuff to another brand, call him and tell him what you're looking for and he'll guide you to the right thing. He's two for two in my case, couldn't be happier. Head and shoulders above anything I have had yet but it is subjective. Everyone seems to love the Suhr Aldrich PU, I hated it. Pulled it in one day. Still have a Suhr in the neck only because I don't use it much, very boomy. Just my two cents.

I have an ash '62 relic strat that needs a good humbucker. I have a BBQ bucker in there, and was considering the fender EVH Frankenstein humbucker, but I can't help to think about one of these Motor Citys. . .

Detroiter
2nd Degree Black Belt

The stat is kinda bright, so I need something a little darker, but I want a full fat, rock tone, that is easy to play. Amps will be vintage Marshalls and a Bogner 101b.

Wade is the man! He got me free tickets to see Overkill and Forbidden last night and I delivered Dave Linsk some new MCP's for a couple of his guitars (Detroiters I think). Good times!

I have a set of Detroiters in my Les Paul and I love 'em. They're like PAF's but more pissed off. Wade just shipped me a set of pickups for my Telecaster, I can't wait to hear how those turned out.

The only thing I wouldn't like would be if they were dark, how would you classify the tone? Pissed off is good.

I've got a Detroiter set in my Caparison Angelus which is similar in tone to a LesPaul. the Detroiters are thick and chewy and have a really nice bite with a pretty tight vintagy low-end. Once I got the height adjusted properly they really rip! They are not as clear as a black-belt and smear the tone a bit, but in a good way. The mids do impart a pissed off kind of attitude.

I like 'em cause they do their own thing just like the rest of Wade's lineup.

I've read that a few times too and I can't help but laugh. And only 2 or 3 people have expressed an opinion that way but everyone else doesn't seem to have the same issue. Hmm.... maybe these folks have too much bass dialed into their rigs?  Anyway... whatever. I've got most of Wades models in various guitars and not ONE of them has too much bass.

Fanboi of MCP? Guilty as charged. I love them all, but for me the blackbelt 2nd degree is extra special. IMHO, YMMV, blah blah, yada yada etc..

Ya this Michael guy is an MCP whore for sure man!!!

MCP's rule. I have Detroiters in a 60R and they just kill. In fact I had them in two other LP's and switched them from guitar to guitar and they were great in all them. Seriously.
The feel is amazing. They're raunchy as hell too and sweeten up with some roll back.
Love'em!

It is tough to beat a set of 2nd Degree Black Belts in a Les Paul. I have a set in one of mine and it is my go to Les Paul that I benchmark everything else against. Best pick up on the market.

Steve

Guys and Gal, thanks for all of the feedback, nothing better then when things sound great and you're getting the tone that makes you want to play. 2nd Degree is so killer! I think I'm going to order the Detroiter on Monday.
