Someone ever tried/played the 2nd degre and/or the detroiter with a fying V (all mahogany but no maple table like the typical LP)
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's either the Detroiter or another 2nd Degree Black Belt. Wade says the Black Belt is fuller, with more low end, so that might be the ticket in an Ash Strat. But, the Detroiter sounds like it'd be really cool too. I really hate this forum sometimes.

I hear ya, tough sometimes to get through all the hype. I just try and remember that everything is subjective and there are a whole bunch of people on here with different tastes and styles of music so you really have to make your own judgements on things. Usually when someone posts like I did here, it's because I'm extremely happy with the product and want to share the experience. Glad to see there are more than a few with the same experience with Motorcity, quality stuff!

Just spent my second night with the 2nd Degree in my Les Paul, love it! His stuff is great. Afwayu in the Charvel...Done! 2nd Degree in the Les Paul...Done. Have to set up one more now, Wade suggested the Detroiter, anyone have any reviews of that one?
Congrats! I have the 2nd Degree in the bridge of my Bloomfield LP and I just love it. Everyone bitches about the MCP's having too much bass. This has not been my experience at all.....![]()
I've read that a few times too and I can't help but laugh. And only 2 or 3 people have expressed an opinion that way but everyone else doesn't seem to have the same issue. Hmm.... maybe these folks have too much bass dialed into their rigs?![]()
Anyway... whatever. I've got most of Wades models in various guitars and not ONE of them has too much bass.
Fanboi of MCP? Guilty as charged. I love them all, but for me the blackbelt 2nd degree is extra special. IMHO, YMMV, blah blah, yada yada etc..![]()

Tell me dude.... are blackbelts through the Bones better than sex with hot pornstars? ...or is that one a bit of a toss-up?![]()
I have a detroiter bridge & 2nd degree neck in a flying v (all korina) right now. Not the same as mahogany, but pretty close. The feel is unbelievable & the sound is open & huge. The detroiter made the v sound bigger than my LP, no joke. Granted the pickups in the LP are more focused & direct for metal riffage, but it's still an impressive feat because that LP slays. The detroiter wouldn't be my first choice for all out modern metal or the lastest "djent" craze, but for rock, hard rock, etc it's a force. The 2nd degree neck along with a custom wind BK (warpig/coldsweat cross) are the best necks I've ever played. The 2nd degree was a step up than the duncan 59 it the that axe. The 59 was killer in that axe too. Anyway, great combo in a flying v. I couldn't see someone being disappointed by it.nico22":3idkp0xr said:Someone ever tried/played the 2nd degre and/or the detroiter with a fying V (all mahogany but no maple table like the typical LP)

Can't help you from experience, but before I got the Detroiter Wade told me compared to the Detroiter the 2nd degree bridge would have less push, less snarl, more low end, & more string separation. He did make it a point to tell me that even though it had more low end it was still tight & clear because of the string separation. One of these days I need to get around to trying one....nico22":1lsm4ox8 said:thanks man!
and what about a 2nd degree in flying V bridge?
boneyard":1o6oc53y said:I have been looking at these for awhile and will probably be ordering a set soon... BUT what is the difference tone wise between the 2nd degree Black Belts and the Alnico II Black Belt Humbuckers?
Wade":1o6oc53y said:The A5 is strong and clear with plenty of sustain, but definitely stinging and can get harmonics with ease. The A4 is a touch less clear and with a fuller note in the low end- Still tight, but a touch creamier and more harmonic feedback. The A2 is the creamiest and still has great note definition in the lows. Very reminiscent to early 60's era Paf's without the Sterilized pluck- A great improvement. Lows are improved greatly. All of these necks can get really creamy and clear. All are tight in the lows..
