I've got a RMC Teese Wah that I want to install an LED. Anyone done this? Any kits out there?

yep, i've done it. if you're handy with a soldering iron, it's not that tough.

some general things:

the standard Crybaby-style case has two knock-outs on either side of the switch; if drilled out, they can hold a standard 5mm LED in a plastic mounting bezel. or you can drill/mount elsewhere.

be careful when drilling! so you don't scratch up the casing or punch through into something else.

you'll need to figure out what value of resistor to use as the current-limiting resistor that limits how much current goes to the LED. it depends on what type & brightness of LED you get. online links will tell you how to calculate the resistor value; i did mine mostly by trial & error testing before i installed.

to avoid pops when turning on the pedal, the best place on the board to tap the power from is the filtering circuitry used for the power-adapter jack. if your RMC doesn't have the wiring for a power adapter, you may just have to tap off the 9v battery lines.

pick a cool color LED. :)

i got the parts for mine from Small Bear. i have seen kits on Ebay, but i don't know if those guys know their stuff well or not.

my fav online reference is http://stinkfoot.se/archives/553. there's tons of others; google and ye shall find.

here's pics of one of mine (also has true-bypass):

Killer idea! I loop switch into my wah and knowing it's on saves the "tap dance". I've been using Morleys since they just engage when you step on them but have been wanting to drop in my parachute circuit equipped dunlop for sometime.

What size resistor did you end up going with for the LED?

Dunlop will make there pedals switchless for $50

They did my rack wah pedals. And I'm sending my joe Bonamasssa " the ultimate fkn wah on the planet" and my dime wah too.

Im wondering if they would put led in them while in there shop.

i think it was 3.7k? that blue LED is a clear-lens type one, which is brighter than the tinted-lens type ones, so it still shines bright even with a larger current-limiting resistor. when i've used the tinted-lens LEDs, i think my resistors were 2.5k.

to make the drain on the battery as low as possible, i use as big a resistor as i can that still makes the LED bright enough to see well.

The LED bar light only has a positive and negative, can i use red and black wiring and how can I connect them. Should I connect them to the speakers? They seem the most open wires and are close to the trunk. I have a 2000 Olds Alero. It says hardwiring required on the manual but I am not good when it comes to speakers amps subs and all the other wiring on the car. Help Please. Hey, this was a great thread recovery given the poster is most likely a spam bot or something like that. I've been thinking of trading and/or selling my Bad Horsie and getting a more "vintage" wah, most likely a Dunlop but the what's kept me from not getting one is the totally numb feel of the switches on them. Most times I have no idea if the wah is on or not but if modding a led is as simple as it looks I'm going to go for it!

THX!

I just had my Dunlop 535q n my dime wah modded switchless. Amazing I love them. Also had my rack wah pedals modded switchless for the Dunlop. After all the years of messing with wahs nothing to me cries like a Dunlop !
