John's making me a straight-up 12-series 100 watt Marshall clone, Suhr-style. I'm hoping i'll have it by the end of the week.... I'm getting real excited to crank that sucker. Watch this space!

I think it'll be called the SL68... Suhr Lead 68.. has a nice ring, don't you think?

John has spoken about something in this vain on TGP several times, will it has that one item that he saw in Ed's amp?

Disclaimer.......not that I would sound anything like him cause I dont have his touch :D

it's just his ultimate plexi build- his take on the 68-70 superlead circuit.

Nice, I bet it will sound killer !! Will it have a loop ?

congrats on the build Pete. what design of a headshell are you going with if you dont mind me asking?

you've got a powersoak to castrate it - one of the best to exist actually!

cant wait to hear his work on a marshall circuit

planning a few marshall builds myself - one that wont be a marshall - a cheesehole chassis with a frankenstein PTP idea i have, and the other a stock JCM800 type of tone.

.....both of mine will have master volume controls

Well guys this thing is flat out amazing. Dime everything, 90v, sm57 dead center on a scum M75 and it's basically dead nuts-on VH1. A bit middier and a bit less sizzle, all attributable to running EL34's instead of 6ca7's I'd guess. Gain sounds identical basically. Back it down and roll the presence and treble back and itll do late 60's to mid 70's tones like AC/DC, Free etc no problem, It's everything I wanted in a 100 watt plexi- it's chewey, huge, warm yet cutting, organic, all that stuff. Stays quite tight in the bass, but has that tactile sag when you hit hard that feels so good.. Cleans up just amazing, even when dimed. Thanks John Suhr u rule

Clips soon, tomorrow if I can!

That's just awesome, dude. Would love to hear that sucker!

Hello Pete, Did JS bias the tubes while it was at 90V from the variac? The reason I ask is that I happened to step in to Dave Friedman's when he was biasing EVH's rebuilt original. Dave had the amp at 90VAC and biased from there.
