$1100 cap. Firm. From Reverb or Ebay.

Want a high gainer. I have most bases covered at this point (which is obvious) but GAS is GAS.

Must be a head. No EL84 or 6V6. 50+ watts. Needs to be a master volume. Does NOT need reverb. Preferably FX loop. Don't need cleans, so it could be a one, two, or three channel.

Diamond?
Engl?
Mesa Stilleto?
Orange?

No 5150/6505. No 5153 unless by an act of God it is a stealth in my price range. don't want to go far past my budget.

So far I am leaning towards Engl, but I will be honest and say that I don't know a lot about Engl.

It will likely be a week until I have the cash if the deal goes through. At the moment I am brainstorming.

So far I am liking the powerball and blackmore, and am curious about the Framus Cobra, since I love my dragon. All are in reasonabe range.

Also the stiletto trident has piqued my interest.

Once in a while you'll see used Fireball 100 pop up for $1000-$1100. I love that amp for what I do (death metal), and the clean channel (which I never use) is really great also.

It’s gonna be pretty hard to find anything worth adding to your collection in that price range. You more or less have already the best high gains amps under $1100. For just a bit more you may be able to get an old jmp2203, jcm800 or jubilee. I paid $1250 recently for my ‘87 Jubilee 2554 and also $1200 for my ‘79 JMP2203 but was almost $1450 after fees and shipping on reverb

If you go Engl, I recommend either the Artist Edition or Inferno. I like the Artist better than the Blackmore and the Inferno is like a better Fireball 100. Not sure if you’ll be able to find them in your price range though. I’d still easily choose a good boosted Marshall over any Engl though, but those are my top 3 favorite Engl’s along with the SE EL34. I had a stiletto trident stage II and have tried the deuce and ace. Nice amp, but still not as good as a good Marshall. I liked some Diamond’s. The Nitrox was my favorite model for sure. Some similarities with the uberschall. Would also be similar to your nitro, better imho

Honesty, if you get a good Marshall like an old jmp or jubilee and a decent boost, try AB’ing it with some of your other amps and I bet it’ll send a few packing and then you can look into stuff like a c+, Wizard or the other really special stuff, which may also send more things packing. That’s partly how my gear journey has been: I periodically get a new amp that’s a game changer and will send a few packing and then I have cash to try more stuff and eventually the cycle repeats, but at this point I only have 2 high gainers on radar left and 6 non-highgainers

I forgot, the sovtek mig-100h I had sounded very good and can be had well below $1100, although I still preferred my Marshall’s to it

My 1986 Randall RG100ES can also sound great and I only paid $400 for it. I’ve kept it since it’s cheap, light weight, and reliable since it’s solid state and still sounds great. I’d choose it over a good chunk of tube amps out there regardless of price. I also mostly play the green channel boosted on it. The green channel is kinda in the jcm800 ball park

There are a bunch of variations of the 5150 amps in that price range and less. Have you tried any of them yet ?

You have everything covered, there's nothing left? What's the point, other than taking up a half page with your list of honor?

And people think I'm an idiot...

i am certainly enjoying this one!

only downside is no Friedman this year, but this has the amp gas subsiding.

Cobras are killer amps. It’ll be a tighter, brighter, more aggressively voiced version of your Dragon. They love a good clean boost. Be sure to keep the channel volume as high as possible, or it’ll sound like fizz. They love Greenbacks and hate V30’s...The Fireball 100 is a killer amp also. Very brutal, dry and tight, almost to a fault. I prefer a little more grease. The mid boost provides this, but I actually preferred the amp with it off. It sounded much more evil and menacing with it off. I prefer the Engl Retrotube to the FB. It’s fatter and juicier sounding. I regret selling that one. I’d also consider an Artist or Blackmore. I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. Can’t go wrong with anything Ceriatone either.

I'd go the Engl route.

Word.
That's why I set my sig font to small.

if Engl; be wary of the Powerball I; that thing is sterile as phakh. Powerball II is way better, but it still lacks the organic aggression of the Savage series.
I'm a big believer of the Engl Savage 60; well within your budget IF they pop up;

(Note: there's a version with standby switch as well as without it).

It does the tight, pissed off, souped up modded Marshall thing really well. More 'controlled' than a Marshall, less girth and bigness to leads than say, a Cameron. Quite middy, so don't be afraid to really crank the bass and go easy on the treble and cut the mids.

2 channels, which, if you really want to get high gain out of it, already makes the Rhythm channel sort of classic low/med gain Marshall-dirty.
The thing is; the Gain knob of the Rhythm channel influences the Lead Gain. + there's a boost button per channel.
So, Rhythm Gain at 10 'o clock and Lead Gain at 3 'o clock gives you a true clean sound and a thick hard rock/classic metal lead sound if you engage the Lead channel boost button.
With Rhythm Gain at 2 'o clock and Lead Gain over 3 'o clock you can do most 90's thrash and death easily.
Mind you, it's really tight and aggressive, but heavily saturated, and compressed, but not as compressed as later offerings from Engl. More raw tones to be had, with a slight leaning towards rhythm playing.

Shared 4 band EQ,
Individual Channel Volumes
Global Master Volume
Individual Channel Presence
Individual Channel Depth Boost
Bright switch on Rhythm channel
FX Loop
60W, 2x EL34.
Footswitch switches channels and pre-select Master volume Boost.
Things I wish it had:
-channel gain boost buttons footswitchable
-fx loop footswitchable

The Blackmore was based off that and added functionality.

It's going to be an Engl. I have been looking more and checking out clips.

Egnator Armageddon??
It’s a monster. I just don’t play it. Got the archon and Herbert.
Built in noise gate. Unique tone.

I love my Artist. LOVE IT.

Snagged a Powerball for under $900 on Craigslist. In great shape. I demo'd it and it was great. I won't have clips until Sunday night. Or be able to turn it up a lot but I am psyched

Powerball I or II? I thought the Powerball I sounded too processed, too scooped.
