Snagged a Powerball for under $900 on Craigslist. In great shape. I demo'd it and it was great. I won't have clips until Sunday night. Or be able to turn it up a lot but I am psyched

Powerball I or II? I thought the Powerball I sounded too processed, too scooped.

It's pretty scooped compared with what I am used to but so far I am really digging it. It has a different flavor than my other heads. I wouldn't say processed is accurate but I could see that happening with a poorly dialed EQ. It's a beast though. Massive bottom end and a nice sizzle if you want that. The cleans are great, that's for sure. I will just be using the third and fourth channels. Lol.

That was my experience with them as well. The II was a bit more lively and less clinical/sterile to my ears.

But hey, if it's working for STSB, it's all good.
I assume it's a great deal in the US; in Europe Engls don't seem to hold their resale value well, maybe with the exception of the Morse.
Here if you pay $900-1000 for the Powerball, it'll include an Engl 2x12 or 4x12, a footswitch and a flightcase. :dunno:

If I were to sell my Invader, I'd be lucky to get $800 to $900 for it. I'd rather keep it then, considering I bought it new in 2007.

It's a steal in the US. lol. Kinda like how Europe takes it up the ass with Mesas. I got my tremoverb for like $600 a decade ago. I paid $700 for my mkiv. Lol with extra tubes even!

What I actually like about it is the more clinical/sterile feel. It's way different than anything else I own.
