Looking at loading my 212 (closed back) with a couple of Warehouse speakers .
Looking at a Veteran 30 mixed with either a Reaper 50 ,or and Et65.
any opinions?

I started a similar thread a few months ago I think. But I know a few users here have tried them. I know Sgt. Thump is using the 65's in his Bogner OS 2x12 cab, I was thinking of picking those speakers up as well :)

But from a few opinions I've heard, looks like most like the Veteran's more the Celestion V30's

I have mixed opinions. First, I think the British Lead is a horrible speaker. Very flat and boxy sounding with no life.

I do like the Green Berets, but I had one blow out on me at low volumes and had a magnet fall off another

The Veteran 30's sounded perfect with my old JVM. They were full sounding and really smooth right out of the box. However, I swapped one of the Vintage 30's in my Orange cab for a Veteran 30. I then compared the 2 by covering each side of the cab independently with a thick pillow (basically to A/B them). The Veteran 30 does not like the Rockerverb 50 at all. The Vintage 30 is clearer and MUCH more articulate with this particular amp. Its basically a no contest.

I have also used the Retro 30 and I think it is a better representation of the basic Vintage 30 tone. Not as smooth as the Veteran 30, brighter, and more articulate.

I did the Veteran/ET65. But the Retro 30/ET65 is better! By far the best my rig has ever sounded. I wish I had this 10 years ago.

It makes 4 of the same speaker sound flat, and 2 dimensional in comparison. 'Something about the mismatched efficiencies that give the projection that 3D depth. I have them X'ed out in a 4x12. YOu don't hear the ET's as being quieter, you just hear a complexity like never before. Sit about 10 feet back and enjoy.

I absolutely love the CL80's.

The V30's are nice, but still too "V30" for my tastes.

I had a highly qualified reconing specialist inspect the speakers. He said they looked great.

I don't understand this fear thing. One person said they had a bad one, now the whole world is caving in.
