So very soon I won't have the opportunity to record loud amps & I'm very upset about it :gethim:

However I want to use this opportunity & transform to industrial metal & go DI. Any idea what gear I should look at?

rg 100s, i have no idea how dimebag got his tone out of it...cause it sounded like u wanted....i can also getta tone like that with a warhead and its shitty eq....and it does it quiet and cheap

by the way i even mic it quietly and it works....you can get crazy fuzz with the warheads crazy eq....the amp does not do anything it was designed for but man it could do it for u and cheap

do you have an IR response program? I have had good results feeding an IR power amp, speaker, mic combo from the send on my Diezel Einstein. Just turn the master volume to zero.

I've always considered the heavy guitar sound in this song to be a fuzzy industrial metal sound.

It could be just a double-track Boss Metal Zone pedals into the mixing desk....?

Yea, that vid is industrial guitar sound. I want it warmer & darker though.

Can I listen to your results?

If you particularly like the amp(s) you have now, look into the method described by moltenmetalburn for the cheapest results.

Alternatively, you can get an attenuator with a line out and use it as a dummy load. Run the line out into your DAW and use a convolution plugin for cabinet simulation and pick up some RedWires IRs. You can also get direct out box and put inline before the attenuator and use the line out of it. It will be a slightly better signal.

You can find a used Weber Mass for $150 (or cheaper if patient). A whirlwind EDB1 direct box is about $30. And let's just say two redwires cabinets for $20 (although, you'll probably add to the collection). You can always add a better line out box later.

So, for less than 200 bucks. It doesn't sound exactly like a miced cabinet, but you can get it to sound pretty decent. Pete Thorn did a comparison with his PT100 miced and direct with RedWires here....

That's with a suhr direct box though, which is about $170.

A little EQ in the DAW and I think you could get a sound you was into.

All that said, nothing really replaces a well miced cabinet.

If you don't particularly like your current amp, pick up and AxeFX or an 11R.

Ok then, well, this may seem like I'm going out on a limb, but I am dead serious on recommending this-> a Marshall JCM800 2204 50watt amp.

Last night I ran my JCM800 (It's nearly 30 years old now) into a THD Hotplate at 8ohms, then into a 4x12 cab loaded with V30s. Guitar plugged into the high sensitivity input. The master volume was cranked to 10, the preamp volume was also cranked to 10 (I think). Treble set back around 3, both bass and mids turned up to near 7-8, presence about 4-5. Also rolled the tone knob back a bit on my guitar. The tone was a warm & dark, very fuzzy heavy big sound. It sputtered almost like a fuzz pedal, but not as bad. Still had the articulation and definition I wanted, and cut through, but wasn't your common Marshall thrash/heavy metal chugging arena rock tone at all. Very industrial I'd say.

Here's a warmer and darker-sounding version. I'm not sure what amps (and effects?) were used. Sounds like valve amps at least. Very compressed-sounding still, but very big and huge. I love that midrange raunchiness in the voicing.

Or get this, a solid 30W or 50W combo with an array of good quality, solid stomps... Seriously man, I have a completely reworked Peavey Classic 30 that sounds incredible as is (topnotch glass, celestion gold alnico, and some modded components), with my OCD and a delay? Sounds simply awesome and thick like ever - and all this at a fraction the volume I crank my big rigs to.

Just a thought. And hey, totally transportable, and the various stomps will give you tons of different textures.

V.

When I hear the words warm and fuzzy I think of two thing, vaginas and orange amplification.

Just get a screwdriver and poke a bunch of holes in the speakers
