I read some article today about Bobbi Brown and she said some band and their manager had drugged and raped Jani Lane early in his career.

I always hated warrant in general but man that is some depraved shit. Anyone else hear about this? I wonder if it was a band anyone knew?

Nah just know there are a good bit of hair metal fans in this area so just wanted to see if this was already common knowledge. It was pretty shocking to me. No wonder he was such a miserable bastard. Bobbi Brown apparently released a book talking about this and some other stuff. I enjoyed reading Motley Crue's the Dirt and some of the stuff changed the way I looked back at certain music/shows. This bit will definitely change the way I look at some of Jani's late in life interviews.

Warrant did some good music and they were legit for a time.
Not my thing but they were part of that era.
Additionally id say its real easy to talk smack about the deceased when they can't reply from the grave.

Saw Warrant along with Skid Row back up Aerosmith in Boston on New Years eve years back,
and they rocked really hard. Lots of glam and choreographed shit, but they extended a number of
songs and really jammed. Uncle Tom's Cabin sticks out. Much better live band than I thought they'd be.

The night before was the infamous Sebastian Bach doing a flying kick off the stage into a fans head show.

Ron went out of his way to inform me (and everyone else) that he was coaching John, and that this night was to be John's first night on lead vocals. It was the last song of the night. John stayed on his drums singing lead to Bowie's "Suffragette City". John asked me what I thought? I told him that he sounded better than their lead singer, which was the truth. As to his personality, everyone liked him.
