I was searching for some Troy Grady video and I saw a video of this kid playing and I was like WTF. She's so good at such a young age. Who knows if she will ever be as good as Randy Rhoads as she get older but at this age I bet she's better player than Randy was during this teen.

Why are you comparing Randy Rhoads to a ten year old Japanese girl who's playing Dream Theatre?

I'm comparing one virtuoso to one that could be come a virtuoso and she's accomplishing it at a much younger age that's all.

I think the thing to say would be, was John Petrucci that good at that age?....I doubt it..

People also lose sight of that these kids get exposed to this without it being new and untried as art forms where the greats actually broke the ground and created it out of their own hearts and minds. But there are many more kids who couldn't do it like she can with the same time and experience so she's also very gifted. Hope she keeps enjoying ripping it up into a ripe old age..

What I hate is knowing I have no excuse, saying I never had Vai's monkey hands, when little kids playing full sized guitars show amazing dexterity with digits nearly half my size..

I think almost anyone with enough practice and training can get the mechanics down of playing. But aren't you just a robot drone. GuitarIST, there's supposed to be an artist in there somewhere. You know, one who creates.

Exactly. Someone may be good enough to play Randy's parts, but can they write them? I know two local guitar players who are fuckin wicked, but all they've ever played is covers. Never wrote a tune in their lives.

There's tons of crazy technical talent everywhere, and that's cool...but as was said earlier, it's about creating. Is she "better" than what RR was at the same age? If, by "better" you mean more technical and able to move her fingers faster and wider while skipping strings and sweep picking? Probably, does it matter? Well, with the benefit of historical hindsight....nope.

Best of luck to her, she obviously has the talent, what I'd most like to see after watching those vids is her moving on to creating her own music

whats the orange phone holder thing it the marty video??...shouldn't the question be is she better than marty freidman now??

Same reason kids can't get from point A to point B without looking at their GPS.

He was born Randy Rhoades. She was born Lisa X. Never heard of her. Randy is timeless. She will probably never be famous. I appreciate her young talent though.

That orange thing holds the iPhone so you can video your playing and go back and look for things you need to work on.

Agreed. Monkey see monkey do. Can the monkey create memorable original sounding guitar parts? I doubt it.
