WAZA Tube Amp Expander

Anybody got one? Seems like a great solution for so many different things. Playing live, playing at home with headphones, playing at home with volume under control, amps w/o effects loops, recording,... Worth it? Looks like a great unit from the couple of videos I saw.

It's awesome! What I like about it as well is with the new update, they added in some great R121 emulations. These weren't included in the original unit when it first shipped. Nice to see Boss doing an update on it. With the recent update 2.0, there was a small issue when powering on the unit. They quickly fixed that with the 2.01 update.

What I love about it is that when using it live, if my amp was suddenly to have an issue, I can simply run my pedalboard distortion into it and still use my cab and still be able to run it FOH. The FX on the unit are a bonus. I also found that the resonance controls really can be dialed in nicely with my amp to make it sound perfect.

Bought mine a month ago for the Wizard I had without a loop.
The internal effects are pretty good .

Have done some effect editing . Need to get deeper into it but don't have the Wizard anymore
so it sits. I haven't even opened the footswitch....lol

I have one and really like it. I use mine in multiple situations and it is amazing in each. The following situations are:

1. With standard tube amp as this was created. Delays and Reverbs are awesome and I use these exclusively even over my Fractal FX8 which I use with all my tube heads 4CM.
2. WIth standard tube amp but instead of using traditional cabinets, I use the built in IR and Mic sims with my powered Friedman FRFR monitors. The TAE also allows me to use traditional 412 cabinets without amp sims and the Friedman FRFR with amp sims for a true w-d-w setup. Best of both worlds
3. With the TAE I can also use the power amp section to power my AXE FX 3 when I use it with real 412 cabinets and no IR's.


To me the TAE offers many viable robust solutions for many different applications. The power amp alone is stellar and so are the delays and reverbs. The built in EQ is also a very useful feature.


In just an attenuation setting this is top notch and allows you to play silent or as loud as you want. The headphone jack is also a very nice feature and sounds great using the built in IR sims.

All in all a very good addition to my collection.

Love mine run it with a Wizard the delays sound great along with the loop functions it's a great unit .

What about this unit compared to 2Notes Captor X?

I don’t think you can compare it with the X because that isn’t even out yet or built other than a few samples. Two-Notes makes an excellent product, regardless. I like the form factor of that unit but since I already have an available rack, I prefer the Waza setup because I can power my entire rig along with ins and outs through the same rack so it is very convenient.

If you want a comparison to the Two-Notes stuff, then I would give the Waza the advantage just for the feature set on it alone. The room emulations are very similar to other emulations on the OX and probably similar to the Two-Notes captor X. I tried them yesterday with some headphones and they give more of a wide stereo image when listening. These were added with the recent update.

I am just using my Waza along with my JP-2C for a small pub gig tonight and going right into the PA. Easy setup and off we go. Not even bringing my pedalboard and will just switch the Waza and my amp from the Roland pedal via midi and use the built in delay for some filling in for leads.
