When it comes to recorded tones. Why can't we admit that, no matter how much we love Facelift, or 10,000 Days, or VH I or II or Fair Warning, that there is just NO FREAKIN WAY we are going to buy some amazeballs modded Marshall or Diezel Pinkface or whatever amp and match those tones??? Way too much going on in the studio, cabs, mic placements in 7 different spots in a stairwell for fucks sake.
It just ain't gonna happen folks. If you like Jones tones on 10,000 Days like I do, well it's gonna take like 5 other amps OTHER than the impossible VH4 Blueface to get there. The recent post on searching for the Facelift tone made me re read the Ronnie C post on how he used the Snorkler to record Facelift. Even if you were to pry the amp from his hands with a shit ton of cash, try to match how he used the amp....you still wouldn't get there.
Now, if Kemper could come out with a way to profile recorded tones, THAT would be something......
