Weak signals with amp sims

I feel like with amp sims you're either clipping, or your signal is too weak to really play. Even when you get the hottest input gain you can get on your interface without clipping and the hottest input gain you can get inside the plugin itself, its still cuts off information, and you're left with a weak signal. Are there any hacks to solve this?

I’ve never had this problem, but I also don’t use 100 dollar interfaces. What are you using for an interface/converters?

Are you using a DI, or pretending you interface is the input of a fake amp?
