The speaker seems pretty well broken in now after six gigs with it cranked up. I'm really liking it, it's like an H30 but with smoother highs and more character in the mids, the Celestion H30 is a bit tighter but it seems a little sterile compared to the Weber.

I wasn't having a great playing night (couldn't hear myself very well...it was a nasty loud, ringy stage)...oh well...here it is warts and all, a goofy three piece band with keyboards/padding on backing track, direct from the soundboard. Only effects are a Phase 90 out front and a Nova System in the loop for delay. Amp is a single channel 20 watt Peters Polaris 1x12 combo cranked up.

Lady GaGa - Bad Romance (a rocked up version) :D

Thanks man, it works very well on club stages, I can get it up in volume without being shot.
I think I'm gonna leave it alone...hmmm but may try a Weber pre rola greenback out of curiousity...then that's it!

Marked for later listening.
It's miked up with an e906 mic so it's smoother sounding on the recording than it was on stage. It doesn't have that high mid bump going on like it would with an SM57.
I dig the 906 but an SM57 cuts/rocks more.

Too bad you don't live closer, I have four and would gladly let you test one out. What combo are you running again? I am looking for another lower volume setup for some of the smaller clubs we play.

You have four of the Weber pre rola greenback clones? How do they sound?

It's a Peters Polaris closed-back 1x12 combo that runs on two EL84 power tubes....kind of like a hot rodded 18 watt Marshall combo...but much different. :D

I have a quad of the weber pre rola stan specs in a 4x12 and they sound AWESOME. So awesome that I won't haul that cab out to a gig for fear of it being ripped off.

A local junior high wood shop that I help with is starting a new amp kit/project build soon. One 12ax7 and one el84. The proto sounded really good but I need more volume than one 84. Hmmmm...I'm thinking I should get a kit and put two 84's in it and see how it sounds. Should get it up around 15watts I would think...

Ya one El84 won't cut it. I tried a gig with my Bad Cat Mini Cat II combo with one EL84 and it wasn't working out at all...It was tilted towards my head but I still had to be in the stage monitors, wasn't sounding too good that way...no fun times there.

What do you input on the Weber site for 'Stan spec' greenbacks if you don't mind sharing. I've heard good things of them before.

I don't remember but I'll try and find out. I think the info is buried at the Metroamp forum...

edit: pretty sure these are the specs

it's 30 watts with the pre rola treatment....sounds just like the speaker I just ordered from Weber that's on these clips...I think I ordered everything exactly the same.

I'll double check and see...thanks for the info!

Any time bro! Dammit now i'm looking at 30watt or less amp circuits you bastard!

20 watters are great for club gigging. I like the power tube compression you get when you crank them up. I just use the guitar's volume rolled back for a clean tone (and it's a slightly dirty clean tone) but I don't mind that. If you want really clean, you'll need more power and/or a channel switcher.

sounds good man!
Thanks Darrin...got me a good little gigging setup. The Mesa Electra Dyne will be great for the loud gigs since it's a 90 watt combo...bases covered.

The Stan Spec speaker is the same as the Weber 1225, just get it with pre rola doping. Ted told me this in an e-mail. Strange that the "specs" are 30 watts?? Hmmm.

I love Weber's and Scumbacks.

A 30 watt greenback is strange...and what's even stranger to me from checking out the custom speaker section of the site, when choosing custom specs you can have the speaker with a 30oz magnet and select that it puts out 100 watts. I think I'd call and talk to someone before placing a special request order.

Weber's are great speakers for sure.

they rate the speakers a lot lower than they can actually handle

and their 30 oz magnet is actually 34 oz
