Just ‘Re-Acquired’ my 1973 Marshall 50 Watt from a very, very good friend who ‘owned’ this baby for the last 15 years. I first bought this baby 25 years ago - and had some really BAD mods done to it. Then found a true Marshall Historian and modding ‘artist’ who de-modded it and brought it back to bone-stock glory before selling it to my friend. I fired this baby up - dimed the tone stack - and put my trusty Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe out front and wondered how I ever let this thing go in the first place. I like the darker ‘II’ input, and even without a jumper cable you can add quite a bit of ‘sizzle’ with Volume I. There is something really magic going on in there - and driving a straight front GB loaded 4x12??? … sh*t.

For the win!

Man, I don't get to wind my 72 Trem up very often, but did the other day and was reminded why it is my desert island amp. Through 65s and the matching 72 GB cab it's magic.
Best damn amp I've ever played through...bone stock with a pedal (or two) in front and it's heaven.

Congrats on getting her back!

Here are a few pics after a quick clean up. I put in a nice pair of NOS GT-EL34B tubes, these are from the late-80s run of dual halo getter Teslas. I swapped the white chicken heads years ago before selling the head. My friend liked the look enough that he left it (kinda matches the off white Marshall logo). But I’ve got all the original knobs for it.

I’ve got to get a representative audio sample of this amp up. It has such a warm ‘organic’ thing going on. It takes ‘Amp in a Box’ pedals unbelievably well. I’ve got a Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe, a JHS @, and a Friedman BE-OD Deluxe and each pedal sounds positively glorious in the front end of this head. Almost 3-D. Not sure I could capture all that in an audio clip, but it really sounds incredible.

Good for you man..That kind of stuff does not happen very often to me.
