I'm a big fan of Rainbow but Blackmore's son is a hack... :gethim:

He even screws up that tiny little solo... I just find it painful to watch him.

Guessing, but it doesn't look like Dad gave him many guitar lessons growing up?

Meh, he was sharp on one note compared to Dad. You could easily blame it on the extra beer he had before the gig. RB doesn`t have the greatest vibrato either, even if he`s a pioneer.

wow thats pretty sad. JLT must be really hurting for dough. Not even close to Dad in every musical element. The kid was neglected by an asshole of a father and human being. I love Ritchie as one of my favorite guitarist of all time, but as a person the guy makes Yngwie look like a saint. The little solo segment of the studio cut of this is actually not as simple as it sounds either...Blackmore may not have had the best "wide" vibrato, but his phrasing, sense of melody and feel were/ still is brilliant.

Wow...that was pretty bad. WTF is JLT thinking playing with him???

haha, I had convinced myself that that could not be JLT - he wouldn't do a gig like that, and I was thinking that guy did a good interpretation   !

Me too

  Well, maybe hes just having a bad night, I cant even imagine growing up with RB as your dad. I always heard he was a horses ass. I bet he took a lot of heat from dad, playing that Jackson. It is strange to see JLT doing a gig like that. He still sounds pretty good, I think he was having some trouble hearing himself. Its kinda sad, actually, what do you do if your JLT, and all your days seem to be in the past. Would love to see him do somthing new that kills. that song brings back a lot of good memories

What are you guys smoking? The couple o'clams on the guitar I can roll with, the vocal performance is a different story altogether.

I wasn't just stuck on the clams, I just find it awkward even watching him play, but hey...could have just been that one show. For this vid though

The kid could stand to loose some weight and the ultra unappropriate 80s shitfiddle, but other than that his performace jusdging by one lame ass tune off a lame ass album that should never have been called Rainbow... you get my drift.

Bottom line, if this was one of the guys from here playing with the Rainbow out take guy we all would fall over trying to blow him. But since it's Blackmore's kid we get all wound up...fuck that, he plays fine, this isn't rocket surgery it's crap 3 chord pop "metal".
This IS why Nirvana sold millions.

For one thing I actually thing RB's vibrato is actually the shit...end of story.
As for his kid, and I may be remembering it wrong, but his mom was from Munich and lets call it in a short term relation ship with his dad...know what I'm saying?

yep i do. and i too love ritchie's approach to vibrato's. I think there are lots of folks believe that a really WIDE vibrato as being the shit...there are so many variations and expressive approaches. just ask Uli. Yeah dude, i think it was his 1st wife in Hamburg or Munich i forget. my perspective is not that this performance was not bad, but sad cause I feel sorry for Jorgen because he's probably not getting any support or guidance from Ritchie, and obviously the fan's first reaction is to draw comparison to his old man.. I know JLT has been trying to get Ritchie to reform Rainbow but thats never gonna happen. I always thought of JLT of being a pansy ass vocalist that tried to imitate Lou Grahamm.

Well, Ed, it all boils down to taste, but RB`s vibrato to me isn`t "the shit", it`s just "shit".
He and Kirk H are in the same league, but Blackies tone is better.
Narrow and stressed never did it for me.
I guess, from reading some of the stories about RB, he was kinda narrow and stressed as well, so maybe the vibrato was a personal thing?

Well that solo wasn't as bad as I was expecting, especially compared to those background vocals!
