Congrats, I have always loved those Fender combos, the cleans are excellent.

So you're a VHT guy, and you "needed a change" so you brought home a Fender combo?

You are about to wake up from a night you don't remember with a fat chick next to you.

Thanks man. I've NEVER been a clean guy, but man, the cleans on this amp do sound freaking sweet (of course.)

Did you ever try an "old" 1990's Super 60 ??

it has the twin clean channel acording to the owners manual (and to my ears  ) and the same sweet "Thunderous Clean" 6L6 power amp !!

IMO its one of those "unsung hero" Fenders just waiting to be rediscovered

they usually go quite cheap $$ used - most likely cause the distortion channel sux donkey dong

Congrats man!! I went through the same thing a few months ago and ended up walking out of GC with the Egnater 4212 Tourmaster.

I've been wanting to try out that tone bone pedal for a while but can't find a dealer in Houston.

Best of luck!!

I was eyeing that TourMaster combo they had for something like $1,600, but didn't play it. I purposely didn't want to play it. lol... What do you think of the TourMaster combo? Killer or what?

I won't know if this Twin Reverb is the amp "for me" for a few days or maybe even weeks. It sounded good enough in the store to give it a shot at home, though.
Between you, me and nut jobs reading this I think the Tourmaster KILLS!! Yeah it's a little pricey but I traded my JSX for it and some cash after I picked up my Nitro.

The Tourmaster will do great freakin' cleans, light OD and good crunch (with some volume) and will actually do a mean metal when dialed right on channel 4.

I almost went with a Hot Rod series Fender but the 'tards up at GC told me none of them come with a loop and I was dumb enough not to check it out closely. But everytime I've played through a TR I've dug it!! Throw a TS or OCD and a DS pedal in front and you should be good to go!!

How is that tone bone DS pedal? Can it get pretty heavy or does it just do more of a Marshall sound?
Despite it's name, the ToneBone Classic pedal has tons of distortion on tap. More than I'd ever use, no matter what style we're talking about. I've had it for a few months, but am just now really trying to use it. It's very tweakable, which makes it hard to settle on a certain setting. I'm going back down in the basement shortly to mess around with the new rig more. I'll have an opinion of the ToneBone Classic in the next few weeks. So far, I'd say it sounds pretty good. It can go from muddy/muffled to trebly real quick. kinda touchy.
Well let us know how the ToneBone works out...I'm interested in trying one out. Hopefully the TR works out for you, they're great clean amps!

Congrats Thump and I hope you love it. The Twin Reverb is my favorite clean sound and I love running my Keeleys and Maxon SD-9 in to mine. I've been meaning to try a Hot British but haven't had the chance.

So you're digging the Classic with it? Mind if I ask what specifically you're liking about it?

The Fender Twin is the benchmark for combo amps. End of story. Look no more. Should be plenty loud and you do have two channels to play with.

Thanks Bill. How do people use the two channels in these amps? I've just been using the... eh... what's it called? The channel with reverb and vibrato. I guess it's the vibrato channel. lol... Anyway, I'm only using that one because of the reverb.

Do some people use the other (normal) channel? Do people switch between them with an AB box or is that even possible? If so, that would be kinda cool. I could use one for slightly louder volumes for lead boosts. Hmmm....
I would guess an A/B box man.

Fender combos are just some of the classiest looking amps out there. Plain and dignified. Giving me gas!

Einstein for dirty tones and a Fender TR for cleans....

I like the sounds of that...

Diezel Einstein has very good cleans. You should be happy...it's a great amp.

Congrats on the TR. I played a reissue a few weeks ago and demoed a Mesa Lonestar Classic and Special as well. Liked the Fender the most.

Who says I'm not happy? You can't deny, that would be a great setup. I love my Einstein, but nothing wrong with having a few more tonal flavors.

True. Variety is the spice of life.

Unfortunately variety is gonna run me like 1500 bucks.

Variety sucks.

I have to say that i definitely like the TR's..A LOT...
BUT. I had an enlightenment last time i went to GC. I found out that they didnt have a regular TR on the floor. Instead they had a TR custom 15. 15 inch speaker, and man let me tell you about low end. Sounded so amazing. I'm pretty sure its the best clean tone i ever heard. I felt guilty because i played it for an hour and didnt even think twice about buying it. Needed me some dirty tones too.
The headroom on fender amps is rediculous btw.

Congrats Thump, I agree you should try an MI Audio Crunch box through that Twin
