I decided to pull the trigger on a new Quickrod fully loaded with the all the options and put my deposit in today.
I like my 09 a lot. I like the idea of some of the changes on them since mine, plus having the ability to toggle the B+, the new/old, and drop the mids to be more like a Nitro just sounds like the ultimate Splawn.

Now I just need to choose the cosmetics. My 09 is the classic Plexi with all Gold. Part of me wants to just do the same as its a great classic look. Plus the wife will never know its a different amp.
But then I am really digging some other stuff too, especially the 800 style with natural grill and black chassis. It reminds me of some of the Tremoverbs in the same look that I always drooled over. Would black chickenheads look stupid on a black chassis? I kind of like the idea of those as I am thinking they would be quicker/easier to see on stage.
I also dig the Lexan thing and having the tubes glowing through. Its a great look on stage.

So many tough choices :)

awesome sir...I love the part about the wife not knowing it's a new amp if you go with the same cosmetics ...ahahahaha

Congrats man....Always loved the Splawns that I have played.

Key phrase there bud!

Awesome! I like all black with the black chassis, but then again you can't go wrong with the Plexi look.

Yeah, she doesn't really know what the hell I have to too much detail. I actually bought my 09 QR back in early 2010 and gigged it a few years. When I stopped gigging I sold it to the drummer of the band and it sat in his studio.
I started playing with another band about a year ago and tried to make it work with an Egnater MOD50 and Randall RM100, but some limitations made me throw in the towel. For the first gig I bought a Hughes and Kettner Triamp II. It worked out fine, but I really didn't gel with it. So I bought the QR back from the drummer. Played that for 2 shows and then decided I wanted to get another Tremoverb as I had one years ago and loved it. Had it modified to with a footswitchable volume boost. I have been going back and forth between those two amps and she has never said anything about both of them sitting downstairs with my gear. Not sure she even knew the QR was gone for a few years.

Closer call on the LP Axcess I just bought though. My other LPs have the black USA cases. This one is in a brown Custom shop case. Took it being in front of her twice, but she did ask "where did the brown case come from".

So yeah, I don't know that the cosmetics are that big of a deal in that department. Bigger issue is I'll need to keep one at rehearsal or something as she is more keen on heads multiplying than what the look like.

I vote Plexi gold front panel, with a purple plexi cab!

Sweet. I can't wait for your review. Like I will tell EVHfan - we need honest neutral no honeymoon BS reviews.

I like chickenhead knobs the best. I have a pic somewhere with both on one amp for comparison purposes.

Also, my QR used to be the all plexi look. I really dig that look but it is starting to actually wear on me so for something different I traded headshells with dawnofdreamx97. I like the mesh look (like the 5150) vs the lexicon panel and Z28 racing stripes are just so badass.

Edit: Also, my wife really doesn't know what I have. One time I traded amps with maddnotz for like a month. He had my Rectoverb and I had his Pitbull Ultralead. I asked my wife if she noticed anything different about my practice area and she didn't notice

Those chickenheads look good against the gold chassis. Thoughts on how they would look on a black chassis? Maybe too stealth?

Maybe white? I thought about switching mine to black,it would look cool but though they may be hard to find in the dark. I don't like the Marshall knobs.

Congrats! hope to hear a demo of all the new features if you get a chance

Congrats! I have a 2005 QR and have been really curious about the new ones. Excited to hear your thoughts.

Here's my current QR in all black with black chicken head knobs. I'm not a fan of the mesh grill 800 look though. I bought it used... Though it matches my cab well.

My old QR and Nitro looked like this. I love the white knobs on black look.

White on black does look good. I am down to either doing the same Plexi/Gold cosmetics, but with black chickens or the 800 w/Natural grill, black chassis and gold knobs.

Do the Plexi gold, making it easy to change to chicken knobs and other color cabs - then go back to full Plexi when you get bored!

Kick ass man!!!

Nitro will happen this year for me. My QR needs a buddy...

Congrats! LOVE my Quickrod and 4X12 slant. They aren't getting a lot of love right now, because I'm still in the honeymoon with my Friedman Smallbox and 2x12. But every once in a while I get in the mood to play some AIC, Tool, etc and decide to plug into the QR. I never power it off thinking anything other than "I LOVE THIS RIG". It's not better or worse than the Friedman... just different.
