had a focus that was made of plywood a long time ago.

That would have been a Striker, not a Focus.

Awe the striker I had an ST-300 back in the day with the FR special II never could keep it in tune and the low E would roll off the fretboard in the candy apple just awful I think they were about 199.00 could not wait to get it home or back to the store for a refund. love Kramer's but they made some really bad decisions.

yes, a lot of those early Kramer Focus guitars were made by ESP and are pretty good quality. The Floyd is worth what you paid for the whole guitar!
