dude im all for giving people a shot to clean it up (or act normal) but WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with that dude
You tell me brother. :dunno:

Was just-fine for 11 years then suddenly became unhinged and the two temp bans didn't seem to have any effect on his behaviour.

I can only guess that maybe he's having some sort of breakdown. Hopefully he'll be OK.

there's literally no way lol

it would have been announced at some point - they didnt just happen to sit on it until the youtubers jumped on matthew's bait and started the panic.

That's way too convenient
They said 6L6 and 12ax7’s were in the works before any announcement of potentially making tubes was made. Provided that they don’t need to reinvent the wheel they most likely can get tooling made quickly given who they are and what they do.

they said that retrospectively. They didnt announce it before the supposed "tube shortage."

Maybe I'm wrong but to me it seems like if they're already producing 300Bs they should easily be able to do other power tubes and preamp tubes

I know other plants had bought up Mullard tooling over the years. Much of it ended up in Europe but some went to Japan, India…maybe Western can locate some of that?

This.

I'm hoping/guessing that producing these tubes would not be a far stretch. They they have considered that in the past. That they know 'HOW' to do it, just may not have all the tooling as mentioned. The good thing is that appears they are known for high quality so that is all I really care about if they can pull this off.

With all the Saber rattling overseas, we should be manufacturing our own tubes here. Many of us on this forum understand the implications of an EMP pulse destroying our electronic equipment and needing tubes to get power going again, but the general public doesn't. But back for the important issue of guitar amps and tubes...

I would rather buy a USA product built in the USA by an American owned company if I can. Even the porn with Asian chicks is better when it comes from California than the cheap Chinese dvds with subtitles. It takes me out of "the moment " trying to read what they are moaning when I'm about to finish.

Wow....11yrs?

Sorry for sounding like captain obvious, and I know nothing about the history. But pretty bizzaro. Guy just abruptly cracks out of character/goes off the reservation....hmmm. Hope the dude gets things worked out, and is okay.

Back to subject, I was surprised as hell to hear/read about Western Electric and their plans.

First all the questionaires they sent out, and then the announcement. I'm skeptical, but wish I knew more about the mfr'ng process. Sounds like they don't think it's a huge deal to spool up. And I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt. Still, for me it's one of those "I'll believe it when I see the tubes" things.

I really hope it happens, and they make the quality tubes everyone is craving/speculating.

Oh well....hope everyone is doing well. There are good people here, and some of the most lenient/tolerant admins & mods. I know the mod thing is a thankless job, so thank you.

I know I appear as an ass kisser, but not my intent as I have nothing to gain.

Classy brother; that's the way mate.

Thank you brother. Much appreciated!

Empathy for others' situations and appreciation of their actions are indicators of integrity and the highest of moral standards IMHO, so kudos to you brother.

That said, maybe there is something to be gained - I hear Male Man Dan's known to forego his usual fees and "service" members for free. All you'd need to do is book a room or nominate an alley somewhere. :cheers2:

Hah!!! I'll have to pass but thank you none the less. (y)

You are quite the cheeky one for a mod mate.:ROFLMAO:

Quite surprising news with the current rise in modeling amps.

I thought tube amps were on the way out.

Only us old people are into them not the younger generations.

Maybe true but there was concern about the future of tube demand (for amps) prior to this global mess. Whether that concern was unfounded or not could be debated. I'd like to be able to play my amps for at least another 10 or 20 years until the point arthritis and hearing loss dictate otherwise. At some point, for me, a modeling amp may be the only logical choice. I mean I have one already and it is OK (Peavey Vypyr Tube 60) but it has a tube power section and Transtube technology. Nothing like the current Kempers, AxeFx, Helix, etc.

I'd like to say I'm an optimist, but my hunch is the long term situation with China and Russia is not going to get better for us, it will get worse. :dunno:

Yeah, who knows how it's going go but I think the one thing we can count on is a price increase.

It’s not that the younger generation isn’t into tube amps, it’s that they can’t afford them (I couldn’t either much when I was late teens/early 20’s) and don’t have a place to use them if they’re living in an apartment or dorm or rented room situation.

We all know that if you’re a guitar player and you plug in to a kick ass tube powered rig there’s nothing that compares and it’s undeniable. Digital stuff has come a long way and it’s a great thing to have that option and those tools, but nothing else really compares to the real thing.

I could be wrong, but if anything there seems to be more people interested in gear and buying amps and shit than compared to 20 years ago, which goes hand in hand with how the market has responded in recent years with so many new products.

Yes, I hope this is right, it makes sense to me. But I’m at a 10,000 foot point of view. They say as much in the article though, so WestElect would know best.
