WG Thorn Guitars Rune run - Black Limba - Thoughts?

Hey Guys,

Thinking about getting in last-minute into the Wired Guitarist Thorn Rune run. This run will be made from some high grade black limba that Mr. Thorn apparently has stashed away for occasion. The sample pics look lovely. Anyone else here getting in on it?

What I really want to know is whatta ya'll think about black limba for a full guitar? The internet tells me it has a nice "balanced" tone. Have seen a few bodies and tops from black lima but not a full guitar. Have not experienced first hand, but it seems like a fun experiment nonetheless.

I have played a few Thorns and all were top notch. If you have the means, go for it!
 
I can tell you that black limba is a killer wood for guitars. It's an offshoot of korina,I believe. Great sweet singing mids,but still warm like mahogany. Very pretty too.

Same wood... Korina is White Limba, Black Limba is the same wood with mineral streaking in it. It is indeed a great sounding wood for a guitar.

As for the Rune, just order one from Ron if you want one...
